Flights that were delayed back in summer 2013 from the US to the UK. Norwegian delayed my flights from FLL to LGW. 44hrs mind, so it was a pretty substantial delay. Wife and I, and two kids were pretty annoyed at the time.

Anyway EUClaim.co.uk did come good in the end... They had to take Norwegian airlines to court, as they were not coughing up...

They took 750euro's for themselves, but in all honesty, i wouldn't of given myself that many chances of recovering any money myself had i not appointed the free service.

Anyway thought I'd share. If you're ever delayed it is worth pursuing..

Right i'm off to book some more flights with Norwegian for Summer 2016, with that money. Hopefully they're delayed again. :p

I was delayed at Schiphol for about 24 hours a year or two ago. We booked a hotel amd stayed the night. What are the odds of me claiming on that?

I think the laws were recently proven that makes it very hard for airlines not to pay...

Just do it yourself, use the forms.

That's how I did my two, and for my mrs too on one of the flights

Easyjet are a nightmare to get compensation from.

You think?

We were delayed on an Easyjet flight from Edinburgh to Kraków back in Sept - fired off a simple email stating the details and within a day they'd emailed back advising just under 700 Euro's will be refunded within 21 days . . . . .

I got delayed by delta in Atlanta for 24hrs had to pay for a hotel. Thought you couldn't claim if outside the EU ?

I was delayed on both legs of a long haul holiday. I asked the airline for compensation they sent a rejection stating exceptional circumstances(which didn't apply).

I used money claim online, they didn't defend it so I won a default judgement, they only coughed up after I instructed a HCEO

It wasn't a free service - it cost you 750 euro.

Which for a few forms was tidy work for them.

Lucky for you then, took me over 4 months and much arguing to get them to pay up. I started off with a simple email, didn't even get a reply to that for over a month.

On the other hand if you can't be bothered with all the hassle it's still money you wouldn't have had.

I used a claims company to get some cash back from a delay in 2014 where we were treated appallingly by Thomson. A bird hit a plane in London that was due to go to Cancun and rather than delay that flight they decided to make a flight from Leeds go from Manchester instead. Stupid really as they wouldn't have had to pay any compensation for the Cancun passengers as it would have been due to 'natural circumstances' whereas for the Leeds passengers it was an operational thing.

Oh and these claims are only possible due to an EU rule. Something to think about ;)

I've claimed without issue 4 times in the last year.
In the first instance please do not engage a 'blame for claim' company.
They'll take 20-50% just for printing letters you can do yourself!
Look at the above link from Cosimo for MSE templates, the CAA also have templates too.
That's all you need *usually*.
If that doesn't work, only then consider a commission based service. Like the OP has done.

BA were awesome during the volcano eruption a few years ago. Basically said as long as you don't take the **** just keep the receipts and you can claim it back and we'll get you on the earliest flight we can (we actually got on the first flight back). Got to spend another week in the US driving up the coast from LA to SF and back.
