I like Christmas but...

I agree with most of your post... but the bit in bold? Stuffing yourself silly is about the only redeeming part of the whole contrived mess!!

I agree with his entire post... no you don't NEED to, but there are very few things in life you actually NEED to do.

You do it either because you want to do it, or at least feel that you should do it.

I recommend the former...

We've got the next door neighbour round for her annual Christmas blabathon. She just will not shut up and go home. I've got some GTA V to continue with, goddamit.

I'm all set. Presents bought, wrapped and done. Off to Devon early tomorrow as my family are hosting us this year so we have to do nowt bar eat and drink others peoples stuff. Win.

Amazon prime has saved me for even venturing out...I don't watch Live TV so I skip through any Christmas adverts..Iv'e also decided to not eat meat for a month.

Spotify in the car to Avoid endless plays of Slade

So pretty much avoided it thanks goodness.

I'm not a Grinch I like to party but usually when I feel like it not when I'm told to...I see my Mum and Dad nearly every day sister etc...ao its not like an Event anymore..

Christmas is a PITA...if i'm honest...Ive just spent 10 quid on cards for my Mum and dad sister and hers kids etc...

Ah you could always go and see Star Wars again.

Everyone is going tomo night...I don't think i CBA to go tbh.

Packed cinema with loads of kids crunching popcorn watching men in black monsters?

Sounds like hell....I'm going to be alone reading The Martian to rewire my brain after watching the ghastly film last night...

How do you deal with this? My wife is getting stressed about things that are so trivial, like the fact we haven't got the alcohol in yet for Christmas day. Who cares, we have tonight and all day tomorrow to buy it, why stress about it now? Shops won't sell out of beer and wine.

Pretend I can't hear her as I get in the car and drive off for work...

Nothing has changed in my life currently for Christmas, I'm still following a low carb lifestyle despite all the junk that is at work and home, I will however on Christmas day be eating what I want and then back on to dieting and to normal on boxing day.

I've got a couple of bottles of Jack Daniels and one Gentleman Jack to get through while watching A Bridge Too Far or The Great Escape.

it's the 23rd, i have a tree up and i've wrapped all presents and cards, got all the food etc, heard every christmas song several times and i don't feel one bit christmassy yet

We're all set now and the build up has been very relaxed. Looking forward to it as we spent last Christmas and New Year abroad.

As I sat in my car in a supermarket car park yesterday, I did wonder whether the world is going crazy as I witnessed 2 incidents of people fighting over car parking spaces. Perhaps a one off I hoped, but then daughter came in from work and told me she'd been sworn at for (a) not having fresh turkeys and (b) not having pre-prepared veg, although they had plenty of the normal stuff that you have to wash, slice, prepare yourself. She was also pushed out the way as she tried to unload the bakery products from the oven. Madness.

Nevertheless, still looking forward to a quiet family Christmas tommorrow and a 21st birthday celebration:D

I feel sorry for people on the shop floor today, they have to deal with the last minute shoppers who all become selfish idiots on Christmas Eve. These customers might not behave as rudely all year round but to them you are often just the company you work for rather than a person employed by them and customers will hold you responsible for everything and would ruin your day if it meant they could have a moan and the worst thing is, that attitude is all year round and your employer will often side with the customers regardless.

My office is breakin up now, so off to the pub!

Merry Christmas GD

Don't worry everyone, festive spirit returned when I got home and had a tickle fight with my sons (16 months and nearly 4). I even wore my Christmas socks today, and I'm at my mother in laws now, eating and drinking.
