Tarantino's Hateful Eight is back on

Shiver my timbers !

You mean to tell me you really have no idea? No one will say but surely everyone knows, you can't be on the internet and not know.

I understand how people are watching this, however it remains against the forum rules.

NO discussion of movies or tv shows that haven't been released in the UK, if it hasn't been shown in a UK cinema or on a UK tv station, no discussion is allowed.

Link.

"Miss! Miss! Those kids are being naughty miss!"

The point remains that the rules are being inconsistently enforced. The usual mod response to this is that no one is rtm'ing whatever is being moaned about, in this case film piracy. Nevertheless, you might wonder why you have the rule if it's not being enforced.

Why is it allowed though, and for instance posting about a television show that has not aired (often only hours apart) in the United Kingdom yet is clamped down on?

There's a whole sub forum for US TV shows to be discussed in line with US broadcasting schedules?

Really? How is it that the US TV shows section exists and has no such issue?

Why are you even so bothered about it anyway?

Oh, I am aware, however until that sub forum was created (and even still now) moderators are all too quick to remove posts that break that particular rule, but not this one.

It would be far easier to have no discussion of anything not aired in the UK at all, or to have just a spoiler sub forum, rather than a US TV show specific sub forum.

I'm not that bothered, it has just always bugged me how moderators have never cared about this, yet care about television shows, and yet there is a clear rule against it.

Have you ever considered that they just don't care?

The US TV sub forum is about keeping the spoilers in one place anyway, nothing to do with copywrite. It's because TV shows can be months ahead in the US. Movies are usually days at most. The forum rules are just there as a butt covering excersize.

Well, you don't have to visit the sub-forum if you don't want to have spoilers for shows that haven't been aired yet.

Don't let it get to you mate.
As long as people don't go into the specifics of how or where they got the goods and just focus on discussing films (without giving away spoilers), there shouldn't be any problem here, unless you're the adenoid type.

I do not care about 'spoilers'.

Eh . It is not 'getting' to me, it just bugs me that moderators pick and chose which rules they enforce.

'You're talking about Game of Thrones 5 hours before it airs in the UK?'
*deletes post, warns or suspends member*

'You're talking about the latest Tarantino/Iñárritu film weeks/month before it is released in the UK?'
*carry on...*

The rules in those 2 places contradict each other anyway.

It should be - Do not talk about content (film or television) that is not released in the United Kingdom.

It clearly is getting to you, given your posts in two separate threads accompanied by sad face smilies.

The only way that someone would face action from a mod in your GoT example is if they posted that in the thread here, and not in the subforum thread where it belongs.
Besides, what's the harm in giving a spoiler free review?

ED: Let me get this straight.
You don't actually care about people posting this stuff, it's just that you're exceptionally anal about rule enforcement?

Ok. Can you tell me what colour underwear I'm wearing too?

Yes, absolutely. However, moderators clean those posts up, but not other rule breaking ones in regards to films.

Why have the rule if you are going to ignore it.

I'm guessing you've had a TV related post deleted and your wrists slapped? :p

(BTW, as your main point is about inconsistent moderating, I'm totally with you. But its not something you can really shout about too much. I have major issues with some things on here (I.e. certain parts of the FAQ) but raising them got me suspended and about a weeks worth of posts, including some totally unrelated from different threads, deleted last time I mentioned it. It's best to just accept it for what it is and move on. :))

P.s. I'm pretty certain this post will be deleted :)

I probably have in the past.

Why have rules if you are not going to enforce them.

The moderators get 'stick' for their behaviour and inconsistency, you would think something like this is easy enough to get right (do not talk about films not released in the UK) and should be part of the bread and butter stuff.
