BOTW Weekly Results Round B - Boxing Day Stance

Seriously?
I don't know if that was meant seriously or not. I hope not

Personally, I don't think that Wonky Donkey is valid in the sprit of "Any Christmas themed beer". It doesn't look as though there's any kind of Christmas packaging on the bottle and having now gone and looked at the brewery website and that beer in particular, I don't see any evidence that it's a Christmas themed beer. Every other beer (with the exception of "Dark Penanace") clearly is themed.

Hahaha someone feels threatened :D

Goose is eaten at Christmas, donkey was ridden to Bethlehem and has featured in every nativity since time began :D

Check out the difference between 'themed' and 'named' in the botw rules ;)

Heh, not threatened as I know I only have a handful of decent entries :) I don't expect to be competitive.

I can't find any mention of any difference between themed and named in the rules btw and I've just searched all four man sized pages for both 'named' and 'themed'.

Doh! I searched for named and themed :D

Judges decision is final and all that but the fact that it needs to be explained really puts it on sticky ground in my opinion. And I still don't think it's Christmas themed just because it mentions a drunk, legless donkey :p

Drunk? It's not legless.... boom boom!

Biggest question... Did anyone find a nice tasting Christmas beer?! Like a truly nice beer that you'd have at another time?
The pilot Christmas one, the Gordon's and the brewdog hoppy Christmas were the only ones I found, the rest were not particularly nice... Still drank em right enough!!

Was going to be my jester round but forgot to say, ahh well next week...

The Purple Moose beer is pretty good actually, I'd quite happily drink it at any time. It's quite dark but it's not too heavy going.

Also agree that wonkey donkey should not have been accepted after looking up the brewery and the style of beer. Would 'Bishop's Finger' have been accepted because it relates to the church which relates to Jesus which relates to Christmas?

Nope.

We've already established that a 'church' related beer would qualify for R round, religion.

Would black sheep beer have been accepted because there were shepherds at the nativity who look after sheep?

Nope.

Shepard, yes. Sheep, no.

Would Manchester Star ale have been accepted because of the star of Bethlehem which marked the birth of Jesus?

Nope.

Manchester Star, :/

Would king cobra beer have been a valid entry because of the 3 kings at the nativity scene?

Nope.

King Cobra is a snake.

If it needs explaining then, imo, it is probably worth questioning whether or not it was a valid entry. I thought it was pretty clever myself, and worth the risk of having the entry nullified in order to get a unique beer. Good job!
