I'm so indecisive when it comes to this stuff. What would you guys go for? The Dell S2716DG and a GTX 980 or the Acer XF270HU and a 390x. Both are around the same price with the obvious difference being the Dell is a tn panel and the Acer ips. The 980 looks a little more swanky, though, and gsync doesn't have a range limitation like freesync.

What would you go for?

stop going buy what ranges freesync has, they can be modified with cru ;)
and just out of principle i would go for amd/freesync over nvidia and there higher prices and gsync extra cost monopoly over anything else.

and FYI IPS technology is far superior compared to Tn in the picture quality / colour quality department.

I went the Dell route with a 980, The dell is TN so better for gaming over IPS and i Mainly game. Its also an incredible TN so dont be put off. Other reasons are as follows and my opinion.

1) Dell has second to none service and if the monitor goes wrong in 3 years they come to your house and fix or replace it the next day.

2) Nvidia are just better at bringing drivers out to fix things. Being an AMD and Nvidia owner its quite clear how much better they are with drivers.

3) Nvidia control the process a lot better meaning every G-sync monitor just works out the box.

4) that Dell price is very very good and is going up in Jan so if your going to do it do it now.

5) i could not endure the heat output of two 390s in one room the Mrs 390 has meant we have turned the radiator off in the games room :)

What's the pixel policy like with Dell? If I ordered this from OcUK would it be eligible for a return if there's any dead/stuck pixels? It's one of the biggest fears I have about ordering monitors.

Nope there is a certain level you have to have before they would accept a return, not sure if Dell themselves would issue a swap if it was say in the centre of the screen. If you do have issues either way you can return as unwanted within 14 days anyway so you've got that to fall back on.

I'm pretty sure with dell if there is 1 dead pixel they exchange ..They did with me a few years ago .

I think it's only Dells 'premium panels' where they deem 1 dead pixel enough to swap, and afaik the S2716DG isn't one...

Just *really* glad my X34 doesn't have any!!! :D

I spoke to dell about this. The monitor does not fall under their premium panel policy but he said if you can notice it then they will happily exchange it. He even emailed me after the chat. One thing with dell and i know this as i use a lot of dell products at work their customer service is second to none. I was experiencing some weird shoaddowing on my dell xps laptop (a year old) they guy came to my house and said he could personally not see if but will change the screen for me any way.

Cannot recommend dell enough. End of the day OCUK will take it back under distant selling rules if it arrives with a dead pixel. Mine was perfection on arrival. I would never ever go away from G-Sync unless some better tech came along. Seriously cannot recommend it enough.
