Anyone got the UP3216Q? Any reviews?

What are your intended uses and more specifically, why do you require a monitor with a wide colour gamut?

Had the benq 144hz 1440p which was nice but I'm moving away from competitive gaming.

Monitor will be used for casual games, excel, occasional film watching, surfing and possibly photos with my new years resolution.

Would you say its suitable?

I had the 40" Philips but I found that extremely slow for games and I had quite a lot of colour issues (Black's were beautiful for the first two days then went to ****)

This seems like a decent size to get the 4k experience and dell usually make decent monitors

Wide colour gamut monitors are a bit of an acquired taste, even if you are a photographer or graphic designer. The trouble is all devices out there use sRGB for their display - it is the world's default color space. So whilst you will be able to experience adobe RGB, the vast majority of your audience won't. Which renders it a little useless IMO.

I briefly considered this monitor but have decided against it. I would say save your money and opt for the BenQ BL3201PT. It covers more than 100% of sRGB and has a great panel and features. Currently OcUK are selling this at a great price of £589.99 until Tuesday, cheapest I've ever seen it.

The fact that I didn't really understand what you meant should be ringing alarm bells I'm guessing?

Would it be a good monitor for the reasons above? Does adboe and sRGB affect black levsl?

It would be a waste of money, frankly, if you do not need Adobe RGB support. And it is clear from this that you don't. :) It's not something you need to concern yourself with for general usage nor for digitally distributed photography. It will take a bit of time for consumer media to shift beyond sRGB, but when it does it will be because the majority of consumers have access to wide gamut screens. And the aim there is Rec. 2020, not Adobe RGB.

As above, consider the BenQ BL3201PT instead. Unlike the UP3216Q you aren't delving into the unknown nor wasting your money on features you don't actually need.

Thanks for taking the time to write that. If we ignore that feature would you say it would fufil my other criteria. This is cheaper than the benq for me hence the interest.

I'm just concerned about the black levels (I know its not going to be as good as the Philips 40" but don't want to go back to black levels like my old fp24w or even like my current benq xlz370 of whatever its called.

The other concern is input lag, as previously said I no longer play competitive csgo but would like something reasonable.

Thanks (on mobile apologies for typos/grammar)

It's really difficult to say without testing the monitor. All I can say is that if it is just like a 32" version of the UP2716D that I tested then you shouldn't have any problems with input lag. The contrast is decent, but the potential for glow to be quite a distraction is certainly there for a screen of this size. The BL3201PT is actually very good in that regard, but it uses a different panel. If it's cheaper and you are able to return it fairly easily if you're not satisfied then it might well be a good option. Otherwise I think it's too much of a risk.

Hmm I didn't consider IPS glow is this as prevalent as always?

Information on this monitor seems to be very light. The above review seems pretty indepth (he had three of them?) But he doesn't seem to talk about the basics ?

Yeah IPS glow is certainly still a potentially troublesome issue. The BL3201PT has much less 'AHVA glow' than you'd expect given the size of the screen. The Samsung U32E850R on the other hand has exactly as much 'PLS glow' as you'd expect. The BL3201PT actually appears better with regards to glow intensity and how widespread it is than most 27" IPS-type panels (PLS, IPS or AHVA). Where the UP3216Q sits on this spectrum is currently unknown.

I have UP3216Q
went from U3011 to U3415W and ended up with UP3216Q :)
had problems with 34 and have none with 32
screen quality is great.colors on it are also great as they should
there isnt much of backlight bleed on it as well if any
as it is 4k screen all is sharp. not all programs are adjusted to 4k so some fonts are 'funny' and can look hazy/smudged - total commander is one of them.

if your gpu can cope, games look good on it as well.

if I could chose again, I wouldn't go bigger than 30" but that is my preference.

Thanks for the advice guys. Monitor is going to cost me roughly 600 euros and I can't see anything better in the range. Going to buy tomorrow hopefully it is good. :)

Will post feedback. Pcm2 is there any tests you would like me to do for your site? Or are snowed under with monitors to review? :)

Haha. Well I am snowed under with potential monitors to review, whether or not I'll review them all is another matter. :o Your general impressions would be great, especially with regards to the screen surface texture and your observations on IPS glow levels. Some observations on overall responsiveness as well (no need to test that specifically, although if you want to do so this site should prove useful - http://testufo.com/#test=ghosting). I hope you enjoy it, that's a fantastic price you're paying for it. :)
