I've got myself into a pickle and I'm slightly worried.

I've had insurance with company A and I decided to get Insurance with company B, Company A automatically renews, it says in the policy I can cancel online by viewing documents, I tried that and I couldn't find any option and I couldn't call the office since it was closed.

What do I do???

Do I phone company A tomorrow and say sorry I found somewhere cheaper and to cancel the renewal (which will start tomorrow), I would probably have to pay for a cancellation fee but my ONLY real concern is the following questions on insurance websites

Have you or any additional drivers, ever had an insurance policy declined, cancelled, voided or had special terms imposed?

Does that mean I have to say Yes in the future, because if I do so the quote rockets up (I mean several hundreds to thousands) :(

No you don't need to say any of those things.

Cancelling the auto renew isn't the same as having a policy cancelled, voided or declined.

It renews at midnight i.e 30 minutes from now so I'll have two payments coming out one from insurance A the other from insurance B, so I have to cancel one of them.

That's a relief, seems I've misinterpreted the sentence, so it goes has it been cancelled/voided by the insurer NOT have I the consumer cancelled a policy before.

Once again thanks for the quick responses, it's definitely put me at ease :)

You should have cancelled before though. Now you will pay a cancellation fee depending on the insurer. Although it is reduced normally if within the first 14 days.

I also hope it isn't one of those obscure brokers with terrible customer service.

I hate these automatic renewals. They 'automatically take the dosh from your account! And yes, it is stated when you take out a new policy but usually hidden in small print.

I always makes sure insurance is sorted at the earliest time i can.

They may charge to cancel, but it's unlikely and I am sure you could waiver it if you asked nicely if they did try. It would only ever be at most an admin fee though, as you have 14 days cooling off.

UPDATE: I've just received this email from the insurance company that I cancelled the policy with

"Your policy has been cancelled, it will be deleted from Motor insurers' database which is used by the police to enforce the law on insurance. If you use your vehicle without a valid policy you will be committing an offence"

"This declaration must be submitted to the insurer's appointed agent within 7 days of cancellation date. Failure to comply with this requirement is an offence under Section 147 of the Road Traffic Act 1988"

It also says "By replying to this message you are confirming that the policy will be cancelled"

What do I do now, I don't understand the bits in bold, do I submit this information to my new insurer?
