Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 30th December 2015]

Bloody useless second half from Southampton, need to ship out half our offense and get players who can score goals when presented with golden chances

More points dropped, another atrocious, clueless performance. De Gea is the only reason we even got a point out of that.

1 shot on target in each half. Best attacking performance of the season. Trademark.

just how pointless is that stat

Even earlier in the season we won a game by multiple goals while only having one shot on target (without an own goal)

Completely meaningless

It was a good performance against a difficult team - yes the game died off in the 2nd half, and didn't really have anything at all to mention in the last 10 or so minutes but the players certainly played for LvG tonight which is an improvement

Chelsea are dreadful though. Shocking really. Yet they still had more, better chances? :o

They certainly didn't have more chances - Matic's in the 2nd half was probably the best so I will give you that (although Rooney should have buried his chance), but United really should have scored at least two or three tonight

so LVG gone then. Said it was must win. Couldn't score a goal as I said before the match.

GG

Lol, you think that this is the game that will send LvG packing... After all the crap, after all the really really dire results we have had. You think that this is the one that will end it. :p

Difficult team? Chelsea were shocking, it was almost like they wanted us to win and we still couldn't score. :o

I'm really worried this result and "wow great performance" will mean Woodward bottles sacking him.

Standards already dropping Frank? Better performance not a good performance. :p Was still 0-0

Arsenal with a good win against an in form team, top of the table now. Hopefully City draw tomorrow.

How is Young this bad at crossing? Every flipping cross doesn't beat the first man.

It made me laugh, 4 Chelsea players at the front post between him and any United player and he plays in a low ball, he clearly doesn't look up and/or have a brain.

Not a bad result for Chelsea considering they're **** this season and missing a few players including their strikers.

Actually given Mata / Martial/Rooney and Herrera all getting good chances (and two clearly beating a world class gk) Utd at least created good chances

It was still an entertaining game , much more interesting than just the scoreline suggests

I still want LvG gone, but the players are starting to show something again

Was certainly better, but it is easy to get motivated for these types of games, you have to be dead inside not to.

LvG either ignoring or misunderstanding the questions in the interview. Basically, do you think you will be sacked still.

Utd looked improved but not good enough. Rooney fluffing the big chance to win being utterly unsurprising. Arsenal had a pretty routine game, Bournemouth as the commentators saying looking very unlike themselves. Overly easy, yet Walcott and Ox still looked inept, Ox all running and no quality, Walcott what, air shot, missed a ridiculously easy chance(regardless of the fact it was called offside afterwards), didn't take another chance first time killing his angle and instead of then finding a pass just passed it into the keeper for no reason.

Everton, Everton fans I'm sure will be pee'd off at another loss but damn, what a freaking game. I'd prefer to come 8th every year watching that football week in week out than watch anything Moyes produced and come 6th or 7th(though in this league I don't think he would, it's becoming more open and vulnerable to attacking again).

Hughes has worked miracles on a budget. He's had really one expensive buy in Shaq and even then that was 12mil, a complete bargain by modern football standards. He's starting to come good with end product after 5-10 games looking a bit on the periphery of the team. A beauty of a second and involved in other goals. Arno is turning into a bit of a Zlatan, big, very powerful, tries the outlandish, some real talent there. Bojan at 800k is playing extremely well and off the back off a horrible injury which he's recovered from excellently. There are still moments when the team reverts to it's Pulis roots, losing or playing badly away from home and they might drop deep and go a bit Pulis but most games now they attack and are really good to watch. Brilliant game that I really don't think either team deserved to lose, probably game of the season so far.

If he was going to resign he would have done so already. If he was going to be sacked it would have happened already. Lets just look forward to the rest of this horrible season. When do we get to crash out of the EL?

Hopefully it won't matter, 8 games without a win now.

Edit: some stats from before this game:

- No win in 7
- 4 defeats in a row
- 4 wins in 16
- 14 wins in 34
- 6th in the table
- Out of the CL group stage
- Knocked out of the LC by Championship team

We're meant to be mounting a title challenge this season and going from strength to strength. Issues with the squad are down to the manager too, mostly.
