Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 30th December 2015]

Yeah we could have had a penalty or two but as they're irrelevant to how we played so I haven't mentioned them, we can't rely on handouts from the ref to win games for us.

It's not about whether it's team or individual, I'm just saying even if you hit the woodwork it's not really a 'good chance'. I mean the one that Schweinsteiger ballooned over the bar from outside the box, was that a good chance? He could have hit the woodwork with that, he could have scored.

I actually think it's been so long since we were good that some fans have forgotten what attacking football is :p

I don't know whether we are getting our wires crossed or what but I am comparing todays football to the rest of the season. Not to a time when we did play good attacking football but to the rest of the season where we have been dull to the point of people not even bothering to watch the games.

You could hear in the crowd today, the football was better and more exciting than we have seen in a good while. If the performance was as crap as you are suggesting then there would have been a mutiny at the final whistle. The past few games have been ended with very loud booing and discontent.

I wouldn't consider our fans a reliable measure. They weren't booing back a few months ago when you said the football was still dire? It's clear why they didn't boo today, we didn't lose. LvG has been very clever with his comments over the last few weeks to get the ignorant masses back on his side. That bull about him being prepared to quit, yeah like **** he'd quit and give up that nice paycheck. Suddenly today he's not prepared to quit any more, convenient right? All the PR over the last few weeks has been about getting the fans back on his and the player's side.

I mean one fan on the BBC commentary feed said we need to get rid of Herrera and Mata because they're too slow and bring in Mane and another striker. These people are idiots.

Forget the game and even the performance. We didn't win and this is relegation form. Most will agree we were pretty fortunate in the early stages of the season, and somehow found ourselves top, but since then... disaster.

We're meant to be doing well in the CL and mounting some sort of title challenge... have people forgotten that?! Back to another scrap for top 4, after spending fortunes. Great.

Just watching MOTD. Ozil is insane. Whenever I watch a football match, due to the camera position, I, like most people, can see passes. But Ozil is different. He makes a pass that I would never see in a million years. Problem is, the rest of the team don't see them either.

That's why Ronaldo loved him so much. He is good enough to see the passes, and Ozil just fed them to him at will. I hate saying this an Arsenal fan, but sometimes I wonder whether or not he is wasted at Arsenal.

good grief another gobblydeegook interview from lvg. he quite clearly wants to be sacked for the £

Well no, if he really wanted to get sacked, he could just walk in to a press conference and get his door handle out.

He is just under immense pressure, and I think he has cracked (like Mourinho), it is just a matter of time until he is sacked.

Antonio hilariously quick, he would absolutely slay full backs and centre backs when playing for us, but he's injury prone and has a poor final product. Slightly surprised he is in the Premiership.

Ozil must be so frustrated with having to play with Walcott. How many inch-perfect passes does Walcott need to score?

That would probably fall under gross misconduct and negate any compensation fee he would otherwise be due :p

All managers want to get sacked rather than quit, as quitting misses out on the millions you get from having your contract terminated.
