Thinking of going sli 980ti

There's no way high end Pascal will come in April or May. Maybe the equivalent of the 950 will come then but Nvidia always release the 750 card first, then the 70 and 80 and then the big one.

I don't think that the 1070 or 1080 (snigger) will be much faster than the 980ti. It's the big one you want and that won't be coming in April or May IMO.

I think 1080 will be at least 30% faster the Titan X. With VR tech and 4K getting more prevalent everyday a 1080 being slower then Titan X is a stupid move by Nvidia. So a 1080 has to be 30% or more faster then a Titan X to even compete.

That's not how it has been though. The 970 and 980 were barely any faster than the 780 and 780ti (and of course the Titan Black). They were just cheaper(ish).

Still a nice win that like! Probs just grab a nicely sized SSD or 2! Them Sandisk Enterprise ones on sale are tickling my fancy like... Say what you want about Sandisk SSD's but ive had 1x128gb for over 2 years and a 250gb I got last year, not 1 single hickup! Also its the enterprise line so can only see it being better! Maybe get 2 and Raid 0 them, the speeds are AMAZING on SSD's if you dont already have one??

Times have changed. They can't just put a 980Ti and slap a 1080 sticker over this time like they did the last 2 gens. If 1080 is slower then Titan X then Nvidia might as well put a gun to there head and fire.
VR tech needs a very powerful card to run. If they want middle to lower end users to buy, a 980Ti re badge will not work.

I'm using two gaming 6's in SLI with a Swift. Very happy with it. I swapped out the stock hsfs for Kraken/h55s though as I was having to use fairly aggressive fan profiles to keep the temps sub 80 in some of the more demanding stuff. I've never noticed any micro stutter so can't comment on it. Although it's true that one will do, two allows me to keep 143.5 fps nicely in most games whereas one is for peasants and children. :p

I'd put money on an April release date for pascal with GTC also in April so yea, definitely an April/May release for pascal which isn't that long away heck I got my 980 Ti on launch day (1st june)and that was 7 months ago I hold out for another 4 ish :D

why? the 1070 and 1080 will not be the equivalent full fat silicon of the Titan X. They will be mid range Pascal, and cheaper(ish) than the 980ti and Titan X.

As I said, 1050 first, then about three or four months later 1070 and 1080 and then about six months/year after that full fat pascal or "Titan Stupid" or whatever Nvidia decide to call it.

That's how they have been doing it since Fermi and they have pretty much pwned AMD at every step of the way. They learned a very valid lesson with Fermi - Don't make a kitchen sink. Cut it down, clock the **** off it and sell sell sell.

Save the kitchen sink for later and give it a stupid name and charge £900 for it. Yes.

I know that's how it's been, but they can't do that this time. Not even talking about full fat gpu's.

VR is extremely hungry. 1080 has to be at the very least 30% faster then Titan X. Titan X now can't even run VR very well. See where I'm going with this?
