Way back in 2010 I bought a"Ultima Viper" Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.00GHz DDR3 System from Overclockers with a 6950. It's still rocking but what would be a decent GPU upgrade as close to £200.

I tried to find the rest of the specs but can only find the v2.0 model via Google but it's 4gb RAM and the PSU around 600w I think.

Cheers

I actually posted back in Apr on the same thing...just found my old post..so more details are:

"Ultima Viper" Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.00Gz
Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

It still works and I only really play WOW.

What would be a good 'cheap' upgrade on the 6870...got a feeling that won't be difficult.

I'd love to run WOW on Ultra @ 1920 x 1200 @ 60fps but want to keep the card as cheap as possible.

I have the same system (i7 950 @ 4.2ghz) 6GB of ram and a X58 mobo.

I managed to get a 390 for 205.99 in the black Friday deals from OCUK to replace my poor Radeon HD 5830 1GB lol.

380x seems the best bet for your budget as £200 was mine for a new gpu.

didn't want a 960 as most where 2GB of ram so went for the 390, had a 970 last year but sent it back because of the vram issues so AMD was my only other option

This looks like a good choice for 188 quid

The next offering is 250 quid

Nvidia is lacking in this price range with the 960 at from 160 and then the 970 from 230 for a nasty one (IMO). I read a 960ti was rumoured can't remember if it was confirmed but it'll mean more waiting if so.

The 380x sounds about right.

+1 the 380X is excellent for sub £200.
