Looking to spend around £350 on a new graphics card, however not 100% sure on which card to get. I've been considering the EVGA 970 SSC or potentially a 390 card as i'll be modding F4 with ENBs.

Specs:
MSI 670 Power Edition
i5 4670k
Antec Truepower 550w Bronze
BenQ 1080p res

Agree with Andy £350 for a 970 isn't worth it. Getting close to second hand 980Ti territory or a new 980.

980 or 390 / 390X would be my shout.

Actually, looking at the site, a 390X can be had for much less than a 980; more of a difference in price than I realized.

Yeah fairly true, Haven't had a AMD card for years so I'm glad I made this thread lol. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably either go for the Sapphire or the VTX3D card, are they reliable? Also I figure my PSU will hold up fine under load etc?

Cheers guys.

I would honestly wait out for Pascal, you've waited this long, and I'm pretty sure they're going to be out around march/april time, if you HAD to get one now wait untill the 7th as you'll get a free copy of rise of the tomb raider :)

Fairly true, although will Pascal change much for the price range of my budget? I take it these current cards will drop in price when it does come out, but I'm not too fussed in all fairness. Thanks for the heads up though.

You may have to wait another 6 months for that though. And who knows what prices would be at launch. Knowing Nvidia you might get a low end part for around £350 and the mid range for £500+ . If the low end pascal is similar to a 980Ti then don't expect it to be sub £300 unless Nvidia want to kill the Maxwell sales stone dead in the next 3-6 months.

+1, Pascal could be more than 6 months away for all we know, and it will command a huge price premium, due to the use of HBM2 memory.

Pickup a 390 for now, it should last you quite a while ;)

I can understand why everyone's negative about Pascal release? I believe this time will be different. With VR I think Nv need to release Pascal asap. I don't think ( Now this is my opinion ) that Nvidia will wait 6 months to release pascal.

Think i'll just pick up that Nitro 390 and an SSD. Thanks for help guys and info on Pascal. PSU all good?

Have we had any news about Pascal being sampled, etc like AMD's Arctic Islands?
Even when AMD is ahead of schedule I don't think their next cards will be ready before June hence why I don't expect Pascal to be any quicker. For VR AMD has even delayed their Fury X2 card into the first quarter.

If NV releases Pascal now, the current Nvidia stock is worthless the mid range cards, will trash the 980Ti, possibly even the overclocked ones.

And knowing NV over the years, everything will come with a heavy early adopters tax on them and they will not release the full card until after AMD has put their card on sale.

@Sneakze get the VTX3D 390X or a 390 and an SSD.

Personally I will grab the VTX3D 390X some time next week, and my brother will have the 295X2 for free, since he is torturing himself with a 750Ti

If they release right now,Yes they might hurt 980Ti. I was talking late spring. A few months away still.

I purchased a vtx3d 390x and although I am happy with the purchase, I think a sapphire or powercolor 390 is a better purchase. The vxt3d 390x, although it has 3 fans, they are general smaller than others so can get a little noisy when pushing it but they do keep the temps in check ok. The 390s are likely to run cooler and quieter for a (very) small performance hit.
