Hi Guys, looking at getting an iPhone 6S with giffgaff for £35 a month which seems a good deal and what not.

However, yesterday I went to buy one through CPW on O2 and was asked for £450 deposit?! Not a chance could I afford to pay this.

Might sound silly but I don't know, but do GiffGaff do this? I've looked online and it seems like they don't but just asking if anyones used them recently and whether this is the case.

Thanks and happy new year!

No upfront charge, you can either buy it outright or pay monthly, though works out a bit more overall that way. It states "Monthly price based on £0 upfront payment and 24 month term"

odd. taking out contracts online and they never ask for this.

You adjust the plan so you can choose how much you want to pay upfront, including none. You also chose how long you wish the payment plan to be. Bare in mind this is more of a loan you pay back to Ratesetter and doesn't include the goodybag price.

An upfront charge and a deposit are 2 different things, basically O2 don't trust the OP to pay back the contract so they want some security.
