I'm going to be mending some fencing before too long and having never done it I'm just curious as to whether Wickes' postcrete is good enough or one to avoid?

Cool, ta.

Also, I presume I'll be putting the new posts in the same places as the old ones, so I'll probably be digging out the old concrete first. Should I fill the old holes first before digging out new ones in the same spot? The old holes, once the old concrete is gone, may be quite large; larger than necessary.

That's quite a good idea. Hadn't thought of that although I do have a post on a corner in the fence which I wouldn't be able to attach to a spur unless that spur was on the outside / on the neighbours' side.

Use two bags per post. Even though they say one is enough it's not.

Per wooden post or concrete spur? I've seen suggestions that you can get away with anything down to 1/2 bag per post (I'm using either 4' or 5' posts I think).

Postcrete by Blue Circle is a good choice.

But don't bother with Wickes if you have a local Travis Perkins in the area (their sister company) because they'll offer you free delivery and normally a next day AM/PM slot - I've done so much business with my local one in the last two years and can't fault them.
