Criminal record question regarding new job

I'm pretty sure the enhanced one will show Cautions, Arrests and any police involvement.

A normal shows nothing on me, but a enhanced has some stuff what I was involved in 16-18

It does for some things, but pretty much nothing before 18 is realistically going to affect you unless its a very particular job you are going for. I had a rather misspent youth and its never been an issue for me other than being called in to answer a few questions. Never stopped me working in police stations, prisons, schoools and large trading banks.

I didn't even know what this was. When did CRB become DBS?

A Criminal Record Check at Enhanced Disclosure level, often referred to as a Enhanced DBS, is the highest level required for positions that can involve caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults.

That more than likely wont show, I was worried a caution for being a tad worse for alcohol at 14 would turn up on my enhanced DBS check but nothing there at all. Don't forget to register for the update service within 28 days of your certificate being issued.
That's interesting. I was teaching at 26 and had Enhanced CRB's every 6 months or so in schools, only ever had one head ask me about my caution for a affray when I was 21 and that was because the school was being audited. I was interviewed about 3 months into the job and asked, "did you're offence involve children?" to which I answered no, and no more was ever said about it :o I was never asked about it at interview, even though I had to provide them with a current doc at the application stage.

I don't think I had anything to worry about though having heard of what some of the teaching staff had been up too; assaults, drink driving, drug related offences and fraud were just some of them I can recall off the top of my head! The funny thing was it was a really good school - always excelling with its results and Ofsted inspections.

I'm just wondering if my caution still shows now? It's been way over ten 10 years? All my checks are done behind the scenes apparently. I work for the MoJ now.

No, it shows convictions and other any other police involvement the Chief Officer deems appropriate. They may or may not decide to disclose other arrests or involvement - they certainly don't disclose all police records as standard. It all depends on whether they think it will be relevant for the specific disclosure.

If you're working in a nursing home, they may not disclose an arrest and NFA for a public order incident but could for something like an vulnerable adult abuse arrest which also didn't go any further.

Mine was an enhanced DBS to work with and around children so I'm pretty sure it was deemed completely irrelevant that I'd been cautioned at 14 for being a tad drunk otherwise it would have shown.

is there any law on how long the criminal record will stay visible? so if i made a mistake 15 /10 years ago do i still need to tick Yes i have criminal record ?
