Is the s4 still a decent phone?

If you want something decent that's fairly cheap then take a look at the OnePlus X.

If it's too small get the OnePlus Two.

All the devices using SN615 basically offer the same level of performance as the Galaxy S4, which is pretty bad as some of them are quite expensive for what they offer, Moto X Play for example.

Last summer, I went from an S4 to a Note 4 which I think was more of a jump for me than getting the S6. The other option was the Note 5 which was just around the corner back then, but my gamble for the Note 4 paid off as Samsung ditched the SD card slot which is a feature I need.

The Galaxy S6 is a step up from the Note 4 in every area other than size and battery life for obvious reasons.

Claiming otherwise doesn't make much sense, if you want storage just get the 64GB or 128GB version of the Galaxy S6.

It's probably because of users like you the 128GB version is now gone from the Galaxy S7 lineup and the 32GB versions will flood the market with the 64GB versions priced ridiculously high and difficult to find.

It's a step backwards because of whiners like you.

128GB version is gone because it's was way overpriced for the Android market. Samsung thought they had the clout of Apple but they failed miserably.

It's the reason why the sd slot is making a return in the S7.

Rubbish, too many users unwilling to adapt whinged and many reviewers followed suit even though the benefits of higher internal storage far outweighed having an sdcard slot

Result, goodbye 128GB and probably 64GB as well for most countries.

Nothing to do with pricing, you could get the Galaxy S6 128GB for less than Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB.

Price did not stop demand for the Edge, price has nothing to do with it.

64GB will not go away. And yes it has to do with pricing. If it was much cheaper, it would have been more popular.

And no, 32GB is plenty of storage for most people if the option of sd slot is available. The rest is used for bulk storage where the high performance of ufs2 is pointless. Class 10+ sd performance is plenty for even 4k recording.

In all instances prior to the Galaxy S6 the larger capacity devices were difficult to find depending what country you were from and they were very expensive. They were also never available on launch, including the Galaxy S6 (128GB arrived a few weeks later)

Most end users are not interested in storage or sdcards and networks know this, which is why they will mostly or only stock the smaller versions.

The Galaxy S6 Edge demand was high despite the silly pricing, pricing is not the issue and neither is the sdcard slot, if there is an option users will mostly go for the cheaper option.

They don't care about storage, internal or the sdcard.

For the average user even 16GB is enough, that's the problem, they always buy the cheaper device because they don't understand the issues they will have later on.

Fast read/write speeds are not a waste, apps, games and Android itself loads a lot faster.

Installing an sdcard and using it as internal will be notability slower, what's the average 128GB microsd card offering in terms of write speeds? about 30mb/s with 80mb/s read? That's not comparable to what UFS2 and Apples solutions are offering.

I was in fact very happy with my S4 and I'm certainly very happy with my Note 4.

It's you that's whining. Sour grapes, my friend :p

I wasn't aware of the SD comeback, so thanks for the heads up.

I sure as hell wasn't happy and moved on as soon as I could, the storage was pathetic on the Galaxy S4 and I got sick of having to root and move apps to the sdcard, it was a constant annoyance and one users h should never have to return too again. The phone even made the news becasue of the lack of storage, that might happen again with Galaxy S7. :D

The build quality was also pretty horrible, that thing would snap in half with not a lot of force.

When companies take a step backwards because of stubborn users/reviewers I will moan and whine as much as I want because it's blocking progress.

Apple are moving ahead with even larger and faster storage options, Apple have Android beat here and nobody is even trying to match them now thanks to you guys.
