I currently have a EK Supreme HF Nickel Plexi (bought in April 2011). I am speccing up an upgrade to X99. I am curious if I bought the Ek Easy Mount HF Supreme - LGA 2011 if it would then work?

I assume not as the new CPUs are quite a bit larger aren't they? Obviously I would rather avoid buying a new block which will largely be the same if I don't need to though.

lol :P

Technically I want the full nickel version though, to match my overly shiny backplates on my GPUs, and thats 59.99 :(

Final decision wont be made for a while yet though, need to confirm motherboard and ram selection and decide on whether or not too water cool them as well etc. So that will affect the look I go for...might save £15 still!

The mounting points are identical on LGA2011 and LGA2011v3 ;)

Luc, So are you saying my old block, with the mounting kit, would actually work on an x99 board? Would it be limited efficiency (due to different die sizes) compared to newer blocks, or it would perform similarly?

Guys, any block/cooler that worked on the LGA 2011 socket will work on LGA 2011-3 as well. Only thing to note is if the motherboard maker has some random changes to the Intel specs (like having the socket backplate with cooler mounting holes not go through the motherboard PCB, for example).

Yes it will work.

The HF was a very good performer so the performances difference will be marginal compared to the current block like the Supremacy
