Royal Mail Tracked Returns - Lost PS4

There's been 'problems' with royal mail tracking today.

I sent 12 parcels a few days ago and all of them said the same thing today, they do not exist.

I checked again and they are now displaying, so you may find it was a glitch with RM system :)

edit - Also tracked returns WILL only show once the item has arrived unfortunately.

I might be wrong but I am sure normal tracking does not actually update on the RM tracking page until its delivered and signed for.

Its only special delivery that gets full blown tracking.

Post Office said the same, tracking may only be updated when it actually gets delivered. She did says she would have expected it to have been delivered by now, but told me to start the claims process for it being lost next Friday.

good luck claiming off royal fail

I'm having problems with RM over 2 deliveries that were due to be delivered around about the 29th (was anticipating possible delays due to the time of year) one they claim was delivered but definitely hasn't and the other appears to have completely disappeared.

Tracked gets full tracking (hence the name of product lol). Scanned and tracked at all stages. You are correct that this does not apply to Recorded Delivery (now called 'signed for 24/48') which are only scanned at point of sale, (i.e. post office) and again when delivery is attempted.

RM have a habit of "losing" tracking details from their website had the same thing happen on a signed for it vanished without a trace on their system, cue a few days of running around like headless chicken only for it to mysteriously reappear several days later as if nohting had happened.

I remember Microsoft would do this with UPS.

UPS managed to lose my Xbox360 (sent back for red ring of death repair) - took six months to sort - Microsoft gave me a crappy wired controller and some duff game as compensation. hope your PS4 doesn't go the same route!

I'll probably end up buying another one next weekend if this one still hasn't been delivered by Royal Mail next week. I'll claim for the lost one and hope I get something back.

I have had absolutely no luck with British companies over the past year. 2 year ongoing complaint and no bills from Scottish Power, BT took 3 months to activate my broadband and now Royal Mail. :D

Just to add a little light to this, I have been waiting for a monitor coming from sweden. The parcel was also stuck on the tracking page. When I called, they told me a lot of international parcels have been stuck at customs.

If you sent the ps4 to another country, it could just be held there. Mine was released this morning. Might be ok OP :D

There is no customs between Sweden and the United Kingdom, it should be in free circulation.

As other have said - your contract is with Sony, you complied with their request to return it using the pre-paid lable, their contract is with the courier.

It's up to Sony to replace/claim compensation assuming they sent you a pre-paid label etc. Facebook/twitter etc is always a good way to get things moving if your getting no response from them.

If it eases your concerns at all, I sold a phone to music magpie before Christmas, which was on a 48 hour tracked returns. I dropped it at the post office on 21st and it only turned up yesterday

I'd wait just in case sony send you a new one.

Royal Mail are awful.

And outrageously expensive for anything that isn't a postcard. Wanted £25 to send a pair of shoes in a shoebox sized parcel.

A courier will do it for <£5. Unless businesses get better deals I can't understand why anybody would use them.

TBH mate you sent it on the 29th. Obviously a very busy time of year. I would hang on a couple more days and then contact Sony I bet it turns up

Our mailman in our work mailroom said that their commercial rates are peanuts and that they only charge the public as much as they do because they'd prefer not to do deliveries for average Joe.

He says a lot of things though, could well be BS for all I know.
