EVGA Readies GeForce GTX 980 Ti VR Edition Graphics Card

I don't even have any drive bays on my case (I didn't want any) where does that leave me if I wanted this?

Well obviously that would leave you as a bit of berk, seeing as you know that it wont fit and you have said you don't want a drive bays, so a new case is out of the question. Pretty sure this product isn't for you then.;)

Don't really see the point in this apart from Nvidia trying to sell you the same card as you already got. I can see the Nvidia boardroom now "Okay we'll throw out yet another version of the 980Ti and put "VR Ready" on it and add some front USB ports to drum up more sales".

I wonder how much of a premium over the standard cards will they put on this one.
Hell they'll probably call it the 980Ti S

Er, this sounds like something EVGA are doing specifically and not Nvidia generally.

Yes Possibly. If so then I wonder how many will follow the "VR Ready" tagging scheme for the same model of cards. (i.e. as we all know, 980Ti's are already VR Ready but they are putting out cards with the VR Ready monicker on the boxes) I'd have thought that it would have been a more shrewd business idea to only put that onto the new cards coming later this year. ;)

I am guessing that both AMD and Nvidia card manufacturers will be guilty of this "Marketing Scam" very soon.

Forget the R9 300 series....these are the definative "Rebadged" cards. :D

Okay genuine question, given that the majority of decent cases available today have two (+) USB3.0 ports that connect via an internal connector to the MB where on earth are the USB3.0 ports on this going to connect to?

Are MB's coming with more than one USB3.0 internal connector now?

It would have been far better to see this as a small external hub device than can either be hidden away or sat on the desk next to your monitors. The device shown looks a tad, er, naff.

I assume the USB are connected to a splitter to go back to the Mobo. I guess if you only had one connection on the Mobo you would just disconnect the front case USB's and plug this in?

I don't personally see it catching on unless it can be cost effectively especially as people move away from drive bays on cases for cleaner designs.

Depending on your system you will need to use splitter to provide more then this USB... The card itself is a EVGA Design. VRready is by NVIDIA and probably stated on everything that is VR ready also on cards that do not have the front HDMI. When you review the EVGA Graka stack you will see we have of some models 10 different versions to fit the needs of more people, same for this model. If you don't want it or don't need it you can also go with the actually available cards. We do not want to force anybody to use it but like you can see at earlier posts, there are poeple that think it is usefull for their setup.

@ spikey. Sorry, have just seen your message right now and the office is closing right now. For english speaking people we do give 24/7 phone support, when the EU office close you can still call in and get forwarded to our US support. (+44) 01788-247-298 you still only need to pay the local cost. If there is any issue or they can not help you because of EU issues just drop me an email to [email protected] with OCUK in subject matter then we can deal via email

Yep, modern motherboards come with two internal USB3 headers.

My Maximus Hero VIII has two, for example.

Thanks

Interesting to see that they have moved the HDMI port to the other end of the card, so it can be connected to the drive bay box. Not quite such a, here's a standard 980ti with a VR sticker slapped on it after all.
