Oooh, I'd love those. Used to work for a Dutch company and there'd often be salmiakki around the office. Nom nom nom.
About 25 years ago when I was at school there was a lad who joined the school half way through the term. He had moved from Australia to England with his Dads work. He only stayed about a year and then they moved back I think.
He lived near me so one night after school I went back to his and we were watching TV and messing about and he said do you want some liquorish? Yeah I said, then he offered me what I thought was sugar coated liquorish but it was salt....I ate it, very odd stuff but not horrible.
This was the first and last time I had heard of it until this thread. I kind of feel better now that it wasn't some bizarre concoction he had created himself as I have never forgotten it.
What is it with Europe and salt... especially Scandi nations its just... did they not get the memo that salt is bad?
They look absolutely disgusting!
My current selection of Salmiakki. Plus a bit of normal liquorice.
