We are thinking of putting our house on the market this year.

Have any of you used an Online estate agent such as 'Tepilo' to sell your house? If so, any comments and which one would you recommend?

Looks like they are much cheaper too than local estate agents.

Not yet but am planning on using one later this year. Houses round here are selling like hotcakes so see no need to pay silly commissions.

I think this is the important thing, if houses are selling easily in your area you might as well use an online agent IMO.

Looking at info it seems that most people do search online these days rather than plod around local estate agents. We have lived in this home for approx 7 years now.

Tepilo site looks very interesting and much cheaper than local agents.

Be interested if anyone on here has used them or similar.

It depends on if you want the convenience of doing it in person with a local estate agent or are willing to do the bulk of the work yourself RE: viewings and answering questions/the like.

I used eMoov last time I sold my house. They were excellent and I highly recommend them. They were £3000 cheaper than the high street agents; I wouldn't even consider an high street agent now.

When I sold mine the only thing that might mean you need to go for the exorbitant cost of a high street agent was if you need someone to show potential buyers around but now companies like PurpleBricks will do viewings as well (they're a bit more expensive than eMoov and the like but they're still miles cheaper than high street agents).

I dont mind doing all the work.....Taking pics and doing the viewing etc

eMoov sent round a guy to take pictures, create a floorplan, and do the energy efficiency assessment. I imagine most of the online guys do. You do need to do the viewings with most agents but, honestly, you're better off doing viewings yourself anyway if you can.

Thanks. I already have an energy Cert from 3 years ago which last 10 years as long as nothing changed. I have always shown people round myself. I will look at eMoov. Thanks

We sold our house using an online agent in 2013 within a week, for the asking price, and saved over £3k compared to quoted high street agents.

We just had to do the viewings ourselves which we actually preferred anyway.

Which agent?

My parents and I have both used "House Network" to help sell our properties (https://www.housenetwork.co.uk/).

My parents sold through them. Was a positive experience however you do need to perform the viewings yourself, which some might not be comfortable doing.

I tried to sell my flat with them. Had it on the market for a year or so, only had a couple of viewings but nothing came of it. I then switched to a high street estate agent and sold within a week. That's not to say anyone should avoid online estate agents, but depending on your property, size, location, price and demand, you may either get a healthy amount of interest from people going on rightmove, or like with my flat, it was more to do with the estate agents networks and contacts. As my flat was a single bedroom near a city, it received some investment interest.

Definitely worth a shot and as you've already identified, it can potentially save you a *lot*

Anything to avoid estate/letting agents. A lot of money for nothing and the sooner they go the way of the dodo the better.

Depends on the value of your house too. If you can sell it for a fixed fee, it can be a big saving over a percentage as commission.

Yes, the service is fantastic as it cuts out the worst part - the estate agents themselves.

You are given the buyer's offer and say yes/no, there is no need for them to pay games as you have paid up front and therefore comission doesn't come in to the equation.

I paid around £400 to sell my last house.
