So no one won the Powerball last night, which was estimated to be $900m, so the rollover is going to be this Wednesday and will be about $1.3 Billion :D
I haven't done the lottery in years, however, this one is worth winning;): eek:

Good luck, if I win, promise to buy you guys some stuff.

According to their FAQ's, non-US citizens can play, I assume you have to actually be in the country. Never do lottery, no idea.

I doubt you'll be able to get a ticket online?
I think there were some changes to the law recently regarding online gambling in America - caused a lot of the big online casinos to disappear?

it isn't actually 1.3 billion - they quote a larger amount because there is an option to take payments over 30 years... the actual jackpot prize is lower than that

Is the US lottery not basically a scam? If you win (big money) you can either take a yearly income - you'd never live long enough to get it all - or a lump sum that's less than the actual jackpot and taxed to the hilt?

nah - if you, as a UK tax payer bought a ticket you'd just need to fill out a W-2 form and avoid the tax

ref: the way they quote the prize pool for marketing purposes - it isn't a scam per say but it is a bit misleading, the prize/jackpot is actually a fair bit lower than the headline figure which is essentially the sum of the 30 yearly payments if you took that option

Ah right. scam was probably a bit strong, but definitely misleading at best.

I don't know why going from 20 million to 40 million for example makes people go "well cba for 20,but 40?yeah I'm in !"
