I have seen a few pieces of furniture im thinking of buying at oak furniture land, but have had a look on ebay and there seems to be furniture for sale that looks identical on ebay but cheaper that ships from china.

im guessing oak furniture land also source there furniture from china as there is a long wait for delivery, was just wondering if anyone has bought from ebay and if it is in actual fact identical (maybe even the same supplier)

For exmaple

http://www.oakfurnitureland.co.uk/f...tic-solid-oak-widescreen-tv-cabinet/1680.html

both look the same but one is twice the price of the other

Thanks

Try pine furniture land.

I can't believe it's legit if they're shipping oak furniture cheaper. Are you including import duty/delivery?

You can get some nice stuff from auctions.

No, like I posted in this thread, I tend to buy my Oak furniture from auction houses. You can get some right proper bargains.

i do like the sound of that but i was hoping to buy some and be able to matching items at a later date

That is a good point, i have not factored that in

Are you based anywhere near chippenham? They have an outlet there that I frequented a few times when buying new kit for the pad, it's 50% of their website cost and sometimes much cheaper than even that.

I'd say beware of copycats.

I have ordered several items of furniture from eBay companies selling identical items to oak furniture land (and my sister ordered a couple of items from oak furniture king) and the quality control isn't there.

I ordered a sideboard which at the time was £50 cheaper and when it arrived it had a number of deep scratches (the box was undamaged), the staining was uneven and the doors didn't fit properly.

Also had a coffee table (again £50 cheaper). The top has a rectangle routed into it, each side of the rectangle was a different thickness, again there were deep scratches despite the box being undamaged and uneven colour on the furniture.

My sister ordered a table from oak furniture king before Christmas and it turned up covered in deep scratches. They sent her another and this one was undamaged but when measured all of the dimensions were off. The table was on stilts and far too high for the matching chairs.

If I was a betting man I'd put money on these companies reselling the stock that doesn't pass quality control for the big retailers.

I have ordered quite a bit from oakfurnitureking and not had an issue. All items were as expected. My neighbour ordered from oakfurnitureland and had issues like you mentioned. All the furniture is imported for all these companys so you will get some bad items I suppose.

This is where I go! Not far from me either.
