I've had a good experience with budget Monoprice kit (most notably a graphics tablet at a fraction of the price of its Wacom equivalent), so this news has really piqued my interest.

Curved 1440x3440 @75hz for $500 (I'm guessing they will hit the UK for under £400, significantly cheaper than more established branded models). No mention of panel type, but odds are its the same 34" IPS as others are using.

Interesting. However I'm no fan of slight curve or curved displays. I've heard monoprice mentioned often in a YouTubers video. Didn't realise it was a make/manufacturer.

Will be good to get more users onto 21:9 and make developers notice it more too, so they add better support for it. 21:9 for me is the way of the future for desktops, 16:9/16:10 is showing its age now.

My next update will be another 21:9 with higher resolution than 3440x1440 and bigger than 34", 34" is perfect for the 1440p resolution, so when they bump up the resolution I would like the pixel pitch to be the same and that means a larger screen which will be great as 34" is large but I could manage a larger screen after getting use to 34".

Seems to be a very good price for what they're offering but I don't think I've heard of Monoprice before. The following quote from the link in the OP sounds promising though:

"Monoprice is only using A+ panels for these new monitors (which means they are the same grade as the big name brands)"

Will wait for reviews to come out.

Ok wow, if thats coming to the UK at that price point then Im having one of those 21:9's

Any chance OCUK would stock them? Gibbo pay attention..

For anyone who hasn't heard of monoprice they're a large retailer in the US that have started to brand their own stuff recently. Some of their HiFi speakers have been well received but screens are a different kettle of fish. Either way, all this shows is that costs are coming down, which is good :)

Yeah but if its using the LG screens then no problem as thats what they all use IIRC?

I'm not trying to say they'll be bad, but just temper the hype. If they're slashing the cost that much one obvious place they can cut costs is in the assembly and quality control.

Maybe so, or maybe they're just trying not to be greedy as some of the big companies with their profits in order to gain a foothold in the market?

Im sure we'll find out soon enough! :)
