** More Maximus Muchness! **

Awesome looking board. i was expecting to see a heafty premium for the RGB but i think asus has hit a nice pricing for this. could have been more expensive.

RGB is the new 'must-have' feature that manufacturers seem to be pushing, seemingly for every component it seems, where the novelty wears off faster than cheap after-shave.

Does anyone (except professional or enthusiastic amateur system-builders showing off their creations) really care about pretty lights in the case, or do people really sit their PC case on their desk so they can gaze adoringly at the PC components glowing at them, or changing colour like the lights around the spaceship in Close Encounters?

I do think the plastic 'armour' is worth having though, mainboards are such an important and integral part of a build that anything that protects them from accidental damage when you're inserting/replacing components makes sense to me.

At that price though, surely you'd be tempted to just go X99 instead?

Fantastic looking board, id actually consider switching from X99 to skylake with one of these. Used to own a Z87 formula, the armor shield does help with dust.

I actually think the RGB board looks quite good overall. The "armour" plates or whatever Asus is calling them actually make the board look significantly cleaner/ better than if the PCB were just left bare imo.

Came to order a single Vardar fan, left with a z170 Formula Pre-order

Would have made more sense to go x99, but what can I say that MOBO looks awesome and my OCD would have meant filling out all 8 RAM slots on x99 needlessly :p

Any idea on release date, current parts going into second build.

First look I was like uh what but on second look I think I'd buy one if it was decent quality material and a little less transformer-esque looking.

I swore never to spend that kind of money on a MB again but it looks so much better than the cheaper boards that I'm gonna find it hard to resist even if I don't need all its bells and whistles.

Who spends so much on a z170 board, surely you would want x99 for that amount of money?

errm do you not get out much? pricing is about same as its has been for maximus z series boards for some time?

horses for courses init, can you show me any x99 motherboard that matches the feature set on this motherboard? for around this price?

Who spends so much on a z170 board, surely you would want x99 for that amount of money?

I do agree, on the whole X99 does make a whole lot more sense to be honest, more so given the price points of the 6700k and 5820k.

But heck, some times sense is boring and this looks awesome (yes I am sucker for aesthetics) hence the pre-order and sense taking a back seat :D
