I like the look of the Acer better TBH but I've seen that a lot of people have had issues with it.

Do I bite the bullet and just get the Asus PG348Q in February or has Acer sorted the issues out now?

Which one do I buy?

Depends,
I would say wait for the Asus one for other reason other than to see what offers compared to the X34. Price wise both Gsync monitors going to be £990-£1000 and not fall for quite some time...

If you wanted the Freesync version, goes for £780 at OCUK (was an offer for £700 last week elsewhere) and imho is good price considering.

I figure they both much of a muchness so I went ahead and ordered the Acer. Its like waiting for Christmas morning now only I'll be hiding this present form the wife for as long as I can :D

The main issues are sorted. But there is always a chance of <100hz, BLB, IPS glow, dead/stuck pixels, a little coil whine, issues that are inherent in this type of monitor technology, and will certainly be present on the Asus variant which shares the exact same panel.

It would be best to wait but it's really unlikely that Asus will have substantially better QC, you just need to look at the feedback of their current monitors to realise that.

If you really prefer the look of the Acer, then go for it. You're not missing out on anything after all.

I've heard a lot of horror stories about Acer's customer service so I'd personally wait for the review of the Asus and get that if it turns out to be just as good as or better than the Acer. 60hz through hdmi would be the only thing Asus could improve on over Acer's offering from what I can tell though.

That small chance of getting less than 100hz is the one that scares me most

Yeah, my monitor has one dead pixel in the bottom corner which I'm unhappy about but since it's fully stable at 100hz and has low BLB, it's a keeper. I can't see the pixel even if I look hard for it from 2 feet away which is my viewing distance.

I would also have more faith in Asus' customer service my suspicion is that both are not that great overall. That said, no one is worse than Samsung from my experience.

I too have also heard horror stories about them...thats why its not going to them if I return it. You have 14 days to return it if you buy it online anyways and any of those issues will be picked up day one

Ordered mine from OcUK a short while ago. Hadn't realised the pre-order page was live again as I've had my head buried these past few days. Competitor ETA is sometime mid-Feb but does anyone have any other news?

You prefer the look of the acer, really!? I brought one last year and I had issues, I really didn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling tbh and I returned it (thanks OCUK). I've signed up the ASUS, from what I've read, it should be the better of the two. Time will tell I guess!
