PowerBall to be $1.3 BILLION

Just watched the press conference of the Scottish couple who won half of the £66m at the weekend. The press were complete gits trying to get them to commit to all sorts of things.

Only just jumped into this thread but are you telling me non-US residents can play PowerBall through Lotto Land? Surely that's a scam/against the rules?

You can't actually play the Powerball, it's some sort of workaround where you're betting on the Powerball numbers and they will match the jackpot somehow, If I've understood it correctly.
 
I don't think you are technically playing Powerball. You are just betting on the results of the Powerball with the payouts being the same as the Powerball pot.
 
Oh right, makes sense.

I couldn't even begin to fathom the crap that the winner of this will be swamped with. Everyone will want a piece, good and bad. That's if these lotto sites even honour their payouts, which I very much doubt they will.

there isn't any benefit in doing that - in fact it would cost them more money according to the method they use to split the prizes

supposing they had 1000 ticket holders winning the jackpot and there was one winner in the actual lottery

according to their method they'd be paying out the equivalent 999/1000 of the jackpot among their winners (minus taxes)

if they have just one winner and one real winner in the actual draw then they'd only be paying out 1/2 of the jackpot (minus taxes)

then you're not losing a billion... taxes are applied to both the annuity and the lump sum, investing the lump sum yourself over 30 year will likely result in more money than the annuity option

no you can place a side bet on in via lotto land

you can play on it via other sites that will buy tickets on your behalf in the US

read through the thread as this has already been explained a few times :)
 
Lottoland tickets now at £8.00. Double what I paid and I probably paid double what others did.
