I just ordered my first bottle of Hennessy X.O (70cl) as a little step up from Courvoisier nightcaps. Thinking now I need a smoking jacket and some slippers.

Re: Middle age, I've not bought a sports car because it's not practical for what I do in my spare time.

What luxury items have the discerning (or just plain bored/adventurous) gentlemen of OcUK been treating themselves to once they hit mid-late 30's or onwards? I'd really like to know! :)

Bathsheet sized soft towels, pyjamas and an electric blanket. (I'm 35).

I also splashed out on some Whittards vanilla tea for bedtime.

Good lord I may as well be euthanised now.

Where do I start with middle age.

First the issues I've started to notice now

Waking up in the morning with joint pain for no discernible reason. All I did was sleep

Making noises when getting up or sitting down

Having to get up at 4am to finish the pee you thought you'd already finished

Having to ask the kids to turn our TV up so I can hear it

Having to ask the kids to turn their TV down because I can hear it.

Becoming less tolerant of moronic behaviour

Checking my pension, like all the time

Having to stop a karting session at Buckmore with my son because I was getting motion sickness.

These are just off the top of my head, I could go on and on :D

But in answer to the OP's question - bought a 60ft Scalextric track for myself, a few old rubbish consoles from my youth and am looking at sports cars. Oh the shame..

I tend to make a painful "ooomph" noise.

Having to get up at 4am to finish the pee you thought you'd already finished

And again at 6.

Having to ask the kids to turn our TV up so I can hear it

I dont have kids, but everyone else is constantly moaning about my TV volume.

Having to ask the kids to turn their TV down because I can hear it.

See above

Becoming less tolerant of moronic behaviour

Yes, and tbh, the moronic behaviour used to be me

Checking my pension, like all the time

I'm not that ******* old!

Having to stop a karting session at Buckmore with my son because I was getting motion sickness.

I get that from FSX

These are just off the top of my head, I could go on and on :D

Calling it a night while down the pub because you have to be up early for work. Once I could roll in at 6am, get changed, and go to work at 7am. Back in the day. :(

When someone you're playing an Online Game with tells you their age and almost everything you are wearing is older than them.

Hair starts falling out of where it used to grow and appearing where it didn't.

Old Spice and Brut aftershave suddenly seem appealing.

No-one calls you "lad" or "young-man" at work anymore.

+1 to checking the pension and, projecting my hoped for retirement date, knowing how many roster cycles are left to work.

I'd rather play FSX or train sims instead of shoot-em-ups (honourable exception to Fallout 4).

Movies that used to make me split my sides now make me cringe or sit there stone faced (IMHO Wayne's world has aged horribly).

I'm looking to downgrade my 19" low profile wheels to 17" higher profile, so I have a more comfortable ride.

I happily wear a flat cap and tweed (but I've always appreciated a classic look).

I shop at M&S? Everyone else in there appears older anyway.

Not going out in the evenings, going to bed really early.

Buying a car for its comfort, not speed.

Having to have two pairs of glasses, pair for reading and for driving (or varifocals)

Worrying about your hair (going grey and the fact that there's more hair growing out of your nostrils and ears than there is on your head) :p

All the famous people you knew when you were younger all dropping dead & wondering when its going to be your turn.

Looking at the music charts & not knowing who any of them are.

Need I go on......

Becoming less reserved with my mouth. If I don't agree or someone is being an idiot they know. It dribbles out my mouth without a filter.
