3G and H

Ok so long story short I had a HTC desire that connected with the H (hsdpa) and it was always a bit rubbish and very frustrating trying to load websites, I then got an iPhone 4s which used 3g and that was fantastic and things loaded no problem. I've now changed to the Sony z5 and am back on the H with frustrating loading times again.

So my question is what's the problem?

H is for HSPA, which is capable of 14.4Mbit/s download and is part of the collective set of technology known as 3G.

No idea why you would notice a difference in speed really, tried a different browser? Were the phones all same network?

(if anything, H is often referred to as 3.5G, along with H+)

I find it very rare my phone connects at H though, it tends to go 4G, H+, H (with virtually no signal), no signal.

iPhones displays H as 3G so it should be the same across all your devices. The only difference I can think of is browser, I assume you used Safari on the iPhone and Chrome on the Z5. Go into Chrome, press the 3 dot menu button, settings, enable data saver (or disable if it was on) and see if that makes any difference.

Another option is to try an alternative browser. This browser is more optimised for Qualcomm based phones (the Z5 uses a Qualcomm SD810): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.notphenom.swe.browser

speedtest showing H+ is download 0.97mbps and upload 1.48mbps

4g is enabled but its not in my area, very fast tho when i get it

Wow, that's pretty abysmal. If i had those speeds i'd probably consider changing networks.

I usually get these kind of speeds on Three:

Can't be a placebo effect if I wasn't happy with the HTC, was happy with the iPhone and now I'm not happy again. Girlfriend is back tomorrow with her iPhone so will do a speedtest with hers
