Lenovo laptop warranty

Guys,

Apparently my laptop warranty has expired despite me only buying it Feb 2015. Is this normal? It seems like the supplier used a few days of my warranty? I should get 12 months from when I purchase it right?

Did they send me a used/refurbished unit?
 
1 year warranty is a bit pants in the first place.

What are you using to calculate the warranty? If it is based on the serial then the system will work off when the unit was built rather than sold.
 
Did you buy the laptop as new, 2nd hand or refurbished? Check your orders and see, you may have bought a refurbished model .

That's the Lenovo website after entering the serial number. So if the supplier had it in stock for a month the end user would only get 11 months warranty?:confused:
 
I agree, so why is Lenovo saying my warranty has expired? I will give them a call on Monday but tbh I'm not sure if I can be bothered with returning the laptop just for a few dodgy pixels that I hardly notice.
 
If you talk to the retailer then you should get the full 12 months from the purchase date. When you talk to the manufacturer they go from manufacture date cause they have no other date to go from.

Quite simply because the logistics of them receiving the exact purchase date for every single machine they sell would be ridiculously complex.

As with most items you will have the 12 month warranty from the date you purchased the machine, as long as you can provide proof of purchase. In the event you can't oprovide proof of purchase it falls back on the serial number, but that way you might miss out on some of the time as they have no option but to go off the manufacturing date.

It makes sense really. As long as you keep a receipt / order / bank statement you get the full warranty, even if you loose it all, you likely still get most of you warranty.
 
European legislation provides the consumer with a 2 year guarantee. This is a contract between you and your supplier. A Warranty is what the manufacturer offers. If you bought it from a retailer then take it back to them. (IMHO)
 
Update: decided to send off the laptop to Medion and I got the laptop back last week with a brand new screen with zero dead pixels:)
