*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I always wondered why they didn't design the x1 so that there was no need for the external power brick.

Because it'd be a noisy, pointlessly compact games console if they did that.

Not sure where people are using their consoles to not have enough space to hide away a power brick and fit a slightly bigger footprint box on a tv shelf etc. Haven't seen my power brick since the day it got wired up. What is noticeable is my PS4 whirring away whenever it gets turned on.

I've heard users saying the newer version ps4 is virtually silent, so I think it could have been possible for a silent x1 with internal power source.

You win, power bricks are brilliant and not ugly. Don't take up more room and easily hidden.

For the record, I can really see mine in the cabinet but its not ideal. I really wish it didn't have one. As soon as there is a slim version of the X1 ill be trading this one for it.

Wouldn't really be fair to come down hard on a few console trolls when there are people openly expressing their racist and prejudiced opinions in GD without consequence.

Hope the above was not directed at me, although I did take the bait from master troll pioneer2000.

Anyway just got an email from Sony PS giving me a 1 day ps plus subscription extension for the January 4th outage, how very generous:D, wasn't expecting anything to be fair though.

To be fair so have I, I've taken his bait a few times. Don't worry about it. And yes, I too got the same email.

He's been on ignore for a long time with me, easier to ignore rather than take the bait of a troll. Makes it much easier! I got my email too, an extra day even though it never affected me at all anyway as i was on before it all went down.

I take it you never owned a 360?

I don't know anyone who didn't have to return theirs several times. I think I went through 4+ before I decided to swap to PS3. Every mate of mine had at least 2-3 die on them too.

So after making the most unreliable console ever they had to guarantee the xbox 1 wouldn't die.

Great thing is because they went overboard the thing might last forever. Again I don't bother looking at consoles I'm looking at the screen so the size doesn't bother me after you install it.

Digital games are also much cheaper on xb1 due to being able to buy from abroad so freely. It's an alright console but their UI is horrible.

I still have my launch day 360 and ps3... :-)

I also got an email with an extra days plus code.

Im having issues now where updates to games are failing due to hard drive space. I have 81GB free out of 2TB but it says I need to delete things for it to work.

If I delete the game and re-install it works fine ?

Just bagged myself a thrustmaster t150 after seeing on a crazy deal on hukd (don't think I can say the actual place here) but it was sub £45 brand new!

Anyway, gonna get on driveclub for a blast around the track now.

And now out of stock :(

Is it any good? Anyway it can be used in your lap like the old Formula Force wheels?

Just booted up Driveclub that I got from PS+ and it keeps prompting me to upgrade to the full version. What's the point of a free game on PS+ if they are just gonna limit the content of the game, so annoying.

Yes, the PS+ version was IMO a bit of a mess. The game itself is now very good if all you want is a arcade racer that looks very nice. easily one of the best looking games this gen so far, and the devs just keep on adding more and more content, but the PS+ version was a bit poorly handled.

Game is worth the asking price though. It also goes on PSN sale very regular as well.

The original point was for it to serve as an extended demo of sorts for PS+ members when the full game launched, with the option to then pay a discounted price to unlock the rest of the content. Instead it was delayed for so long that they may as well have just released it as an actual demo to everyone, instead of putting it on PS+ for a month or two long after the full game was out.

The launch was a total shambles, but the game itself is pretty good now and they keep supporting it with new content and features.

Yes, better than the driving force wheel if you ask me. As for using it in your lap, I wouldn't have thought so. The one thing I found is that it doesn't have proper fixing holes on the bottom so you have to use the clamp provided with it (which some prefer) and the clamp actually works well. Pedals have the fixing holes.

For a full force feedback wheel and pedals its great and can be used with the tier three thrustmaster pedals and shifter.

It keeps coming and going in and out of stock so keep your eye out. Can't go wrong for £44.99 since in the catalogue its £169.99 lol.
