Hows everyone's Jan diet going? :p

I'm doing OK, was told by my doctor to keep a food diary due to ibs and a recent thyroid problem.
I installed myfitnesspal app (others are available) for ease of use and started watching what I ate because it lets me know how many Kcals I have left at the end of the day.
I also decided it's a good time to join a gym and get back fit as I've been off the smokes now for just over 3 months - started vaping though instead but cutting back on the nicotine gradually....
/go me!

Can't tell if I've lost weight yet as my scales are utter rubbish but not too bothered as I'm eating better now and exercising = win.

Bit of a hijack, but is your IBS and thyroid issue linked in any way? I've had similar ish issues recently

Thanks for clarifying that. So how do you get by on 600 calories, what do you eat, and do you find you ever feel weak or lethargic on the fasting days?

Last year (or the year before) I did alternate day eating for over a month.

Begin the eating day with evening meal, the next day have breakfast and lunch, then skip evening meal, breakfast and lunch.

My work colleagues said I was miserable as **** (and I know I was). My actual performance I don't think suffered, nor did I feel weak. Just amazingly irritable and short-tempered.

Feek, think it was, on the forum kept eating the same crap but walked miles every day and lost loads!
Yup, exactly this. Just exercise (no pun intended) good portion control and eat what you like when you like. It doesn't really matter when you eat during the day, just stick to your calorie allowance. Calories in vs calories out. Manage that and you'll lose weight. No need for any fads.

I've put on a little over Christmas and new year but it's coming off nicely just by following the above routine strictly.

/edit - I've walked 11.5 miles today, my dinner this evening was at Pizza Hut as I'm working away for a few days :) and I'm still within my allowance.

Most people aren't going to have the time to walk 12 miles on a regular basis. That's roughly 3 hours walking for most of us.

I have managed to drop 6kg since the start of December, just by cutting sugar significantly, I no longer put it in my tea/coffee and fizzy drinks have been totally removed.

Today is more than normal but anyone can get out of bed an hour earlier than they usually do and go for a walk. In an hour, it's pretty easy to do four miles. My daily step goal is 10,800 steps which is five miles.

4 mph is a pretty brisk walking pace! I'd struggle to do that and I'm no slouch :p

e: my last walk was 1.8 miles, took 35 mins, and I pushed it. That's 3.2 mph. I was really pushing it too.

Fair enough, it took me a while to get to that speed and now I walk at around 4.5mph and faster if I decide to get a move on. Even if you manages 3.5 miles in an hour, you'll almost certainly walk another mile and a half during the day just pottering around and there's your goal completed.

My point though is really that if anyone is serious about dropping a few pounds then saying "I don't have time to go for a walk" isn't a real excuse as anyone can just make a bit of time by getting up a little early. You don't even have to do it all in one go. If you get a lunch break at school/college/uni/work then take a few minutes out of that to walk around the block. Every little bit adds up and it all contributes to the calories in vs calories out thing.
