Im currently on the latest driver 16.1 on my 390x. Sadly this has a bug where AMD settings isn't working right for some games. I would like to roll back to 15.2 How do I do this? If possible I would like to avoid doing a full DDU wipe. But if you tell me thats what to do then thats what I will do. Thanks.

Control Panel - Programs & Features - AMD Catalyst Install Manager

I personally just do full uninstall of all AMD drivers each time I change drivers, but you can select individual ones if you prefer. Once that's complete, it's just a case of downloading and installing the older driver.

This will leave some artifacts behind, such as CCC remembers my screen arrangement when I reinstall the AMD drivers, but hopefully this will be good enough for your needs.

Personally I would do a full DDU wipe. It doesn't take long and it's helped me a few times recently, especially since the move away from CCC.

as others have said use DDU, done this a number of times trying to find a working driver set for my 390 which i never did find lol

I wonder who ever said DDU has used crimson drivers. I bet they have not.

Uninstall using the AMD process. If asked which version say all
Reboot.
Run DDU
reboot (it will log to safe mode)
Execute cleaning
reboot
Install drivers and make sure driver version is correct.

Notes:
I believe you wrote 15.2 by mistake and you mean 15.12
Try 15.7.1 or better 15.6 if not using W10
On W10 you should turn off the option to update drivers.
Always run AMD installer with right click and run as administrator. (Must do)

No idea why people use DDU straight off the bat. I've never yet found a case where when staying with one vendor I needed it, much easier to use the provided installers/uninstallers. Yes, if it doesn't go as planned then use DDU but why start with it?

Because it eliminates the possibility of the problems (they do exist for many) and provides a clean install for the new drivers. Since its a pain free and fairly quick task, the question is really, why not?

Using DDU straight off the bat can leave error messages that will need a full install of Windows to get rid of.

If you are going to use DDU do an uninstall of the drivers first and then run DDU.

Ok well I see that is a good reason why not then! Can't say I have ever had any issues like that when using DDU to clear old drivers but I know you have had far more experience in the matter. Is DDU best avoided then or last resort?

Yes.

AMD Crimson drivers have set of files and programs installed that the DDU doesn't pick up, even the latest version.

And when you try to install older drivers the new stuff are there.
Some time you ever start getting errors when you boot the Windows.

Ive never used DDU, just the Install Manager from Programs and Features, even done that when i rolled back from the Crimsons, and had no issues at all.

Well update. I tried rolling back the driver in windows. Windows seemed to think it worked. Amd manager didn't... So I didn't know what driver I was running. So I ran ddu. (without un installing drivers manually). Then instaled 15 plus software from amd site. Seemed to work fine and has fixed my 16.1 bug I had. All seems well for now...
