My Shelby GT350 - Lots of pics!

VERY nice.

Question for you that you'll probably know.
I was reading somewhere that Aston are going to be using a 5.2ltr engine to replace the existing Cossie unit. My assumption is that the 5.2ltr is a stand in, until the new Merc engines arrive.
Do you believe that Aston will be using the same engine as the GT350?

I don't think so, as I suspect packaging for the flat plane crank will cause them unnecessary issues. Though I'd love to hear an Aston exhaust on a flat plane crank, it would be sensational!

I know they're using a twin turbo V12 5.2 but I'm not sure as of yet what the have planned for the V8 models.

They are both very nice cars but I would rather have the sound of a big block Chevy -

I don't know what Santa Pod is like these days but in 70's the cars ran down a lane to the start line in front of crowd and those V8s used to vibrate your chest - These things sound like an Italian car - short stroke and all revs. :)

I think the Aston V8 engine will be AMG based.

I'd assume so too, and I'm slightly nervous that while AMG make arguably some of the best engines in the world, that Aston may suffer due to loss of what makes them unique.

I wonder if they'll ditch the V8 entirely like Audi did with the R8 or if that will hurt their sales too much going forward?

There's definitely a special place in my heart for big block chevy motors, they definitely have a certain unsophisticated charm.

Grey and black works so well, red rear lights suit it but equally I don't think the white ones on Gibbo's look any worse/better. It's a bit nice :)

I really like that colour choice :)

The regular 5.0 with an exhaust sounds incredible also, for me the 5.2l sound awesome but too exotic/european like, I have steered away from an exotic exhaust for mine in favour of a very american muscle sounding exhaust. I've got exotic/rasp with the M3, I want low deep V8 burble. :)

Yep both sound incredible, but I preferred the sound of yours ;) Obviously would have either, any day of the week :p

Just came across this thread today and looking at your pics - that's a stunning looking car. I've always been a fan of the Mustang which probably harks back to regularly seeing one of the originals burble through the local village in the mid 60's - it was just so different to everything else and the noise it made.

PS. how did you manage to loose $100k on a 12c overnight?

It seems that Mclaren had some issue with distributing cars to various places in Europe and Asia. In their infinite wisdom, they rerouted all of those cars to the US, saturating dealers with them. My local dealer was selling new MP4's for $75-80k under sticker, just to move them, so naturally you can imagine the effect on resale values for those of us that paid $250-300k.

I'm hoping they won't do something like that again, as combined with very poor parts availability over here, I'm having a hard time returning to the brand, despite their excellent products.

Owch, that does seem like a very poor way of looking after people. At the very least it should be decent ammo to use bargaining should you ever be tempted to return to the brand?

It's just a plain crappy thing to do! Completely trashes the value of a used car over-night.

Sure a lot of the buyers can probably afford it but for others the car will be the result of life savings and it's nothing short of a kick in the nuts.

Gutted we aren't getting this over here, I can't look at the standard mustang here without disappointment.

I think you are onto something here. I was wondering why the standard Mustang looked so tame now it's been released in the UK, I blame this thread. :D
