What audio set up do you have for your pc?

ASUS Essence STX ii into 2x Graham Slee monoblocks which pwoer a pair of Monitor Audio GX100s. Sounds amazing but will have to take it all apart, downgrade and put it back into my proper hifi when I have room for it.

Stx>Burmester>B&w Pm-1's

I bet that setup sounds amazing! I love B&W kit but MA ever so slightly more. I was surprised by my STX ii with how much it was punching above its weight considering that my speakers and monoblocks are in the thousands bracket.

The stx would work very well with graham slee mono blocks. Good system synergy there already. The slightly darker than neutral presentation of the stx with clean transparent monos. I have had some experience of Graham slee products and they were extremely well in the right setup.

I use the stx as a form of just transporting the digital data off the pc now. Before it was the main form of decoding but I decided to use my burmy instead. I have had it a long time and it was in storage for the best part of 6-7 years.

Want to add the 805 diamonds to my setup and either burmester amp or jeff rowland amp but trying to find one at the right price is not easy let alone sourcing them is not easy either as neither are popular in the UK.

I have a SoundBlaster Z powering Creative Labs 5.1 surround speakers which are now 14 years old and still going. Can't believe they have lasted for three builds. Thinking about replacing the speakers this year, but no rush.

Well, got my second TP32EX this morning, worked straight away, must say quite impressed, loads better than previous setup, its nice to have audio with no background hiss.

Soundblaster X7 with creative E-MU XM7 speakers is arriving tomorrow and I use my shure SE 846 headphones

I have a pair of GenEXXA pro x7 monitors and a pair of senn hd650s powered by an old JVC amp. The amp is shot to pieces so I've ordered a cheap SMSL dac and SMSL A2 amp to replace it. The dac will power the headphone until I invest in a decent headphone amp

Should have my DALI Zensor Pico's landing today, that and the TEAC A-h01 I picked up on the weekend will be trialled to see if they are suitable replacements for my Corsair SP2500, if it sounds better for what I need, I'll get a sub ordered to fill out the bottom end.

It's not the 'hi-fi' that is the be-all and end-all for me, it's about the near field experience in terms of soundstage, imaging, general clarity and considering I like to crank up the volume, composure at higher SPLs.. And in that regard the SP2500's have been superb so far, although I do know that in terms of some aspects of it's sonic performance it most certainly can be outshone by separates, I am just intrigued if I can have a small set of desk sized speakers + reasonable amp + subwoofer to ellevate it all to the next level.

I have a Pro-ject HeadBox S, a Pro-ject DacBox S and a Cambridge Audio A5 Amp, with an old pair of TDL Nucleus KV1's, Plus a few pairs of headphones.

You won't be disappointed, the small satellites of the SP2500 are never going to reach 'hi-fi' level :) And by that I do mean the elements you described ;)

The speakers arrived yesterday, so whilst I have a chance, I've set them up side by side.

The Zensor Pico's are surprisingly capable for their size, I chose them over the QAcoustics 3010s (which I also quite liked) because the Zensors had that bit more soundstage, separation and midrange detail, enough to just be noticeable when demo'ing.

I will say in defence of the SP2500, that while the 'richness' of the Pico's is very nice indeed, the DSP or whatever in the SP2500's does an amazing job in presenting a really distinct 3D audio 'image', the one area that the Pico's can't match, I'd say the SP2500's are uber clinical.

However, like all comparisons, whilst they sound quite different, the Pico's are growing on me, their ability to sound like a much larger speaker is quite profound, no tinnyness or shallowness, even better then the demo I had and the richness which might slightly reduce the 3D seperation over the SP2500's is quite compelling.

The teac A-H01 is also quite a nice piece of kit, when I demo'd it side by side with the Marantz PM6005, it held it's own and I couldn't hear any difference, and now I've had a play with it, wow.. it's got bags of power and seems a great pairing with the Pico's, and with 32/192Khz I have no doubt the DAC is more than a match for my ropey hearing!

Of course, one thing I desperately miss is the low end of the SP2500's so I' ordered a BK Gemini II, for £215 it seems to offer fantastic value and no doubt will make this second PC setup my preferred one!

I'm using a Soundblaster X7 DAC/Amp/Soundcard/Mic thingy, I swap between AKG 550Mk2 or Beyerdynamic 770pro 250 headphones and use Q Acoustics 2010 speakers.

You could have hooked your SP2500 sub to the AH01's sub-out and it would still work. But since you got money to blow, I'm sure the BK Gemini II would be a better sounding sub than the SP2500's sub.

Sounds like you'll have a cracking little set-up, will be interesting to see how you get on :) The speakers will no doubt sound even better, after some more use.

I've been a few years without a sub now and definitely miss one, but not viable atm due to room sizes, one is too big the other is too small :p

I really like Dali's line up, especially from a styling point of view ;)

New toy for me. TEAC UD-H01 DAC / Headphone amp.

Was worried that I might have driver issue with Win10 but it is up and running with minimum fuss. Replaces my Arcam rPAC which is excellent, but I felt I was missing some grunt, which this provides in bucket loads.

Last one for sale in the Richer Sounds in Reading and as it was without a box, they sold to to me for £100.00 instead of the sale price of £129.95. Was £250.00 when it came out.

Twin BurrBrown 1795 DACs inside. I am very happy with it.

"Little" experiment for the weekend - basically an O2 but slightly different power supply and a few bits substituted with what I had to hand to test whether the AD8066 and LM4562 op amps would work in that design - had a few problems with it - in case anyone is interested I will update in another thread.

The Gemini II turned up yesterday.

The two immediate things that jumped out just opening the box were:
- The wood finish is excellent considering the price!
- It's a lot smaller than I expected (And thats good since it's going under a desk).

Setup was easy, and I particularly like the display on the back, showing exact cross over frequency and the power meter LEDs are a nice touch. It turns out just setting it up by ear was almost spot on (later I did a more scientific setup with sig gen and some quick eq tests, it was not far out and acceptable response considering the room.

Sound quality is very decent for the money, or more importantly it pleases my own ears! (I know £533 is a lot for PC music, but it's not a lot for Hi-FI for a DAC/AMP/Speakers/Sub) and I think it actually sounds like it's worth the money for once.

I'll keep running it all in so my ears adjust etc, but so far it's really put a smile on my face, and whilst I can always be super critical and think where I could improve things, in the context of a near field, desk based small room setup, it's about as far as I'd ever want to go.
