AMD announces Radeon R9 Nano price cut

If I can get one sub £300 I'll buy one. I want to build a ps4 size PC so I can take to friends etc

I wouldn't hold my breath. I believe they will be at that price until stock is gone. I doubt AMD going to sell them cheaper than the 390X which is significantly less powerful.

Didn't say it had to be new :p but its a good price for the card you are getting. I love the smaller FF

Yes my plan for the future is tiny watercooled pc.

I want a tiny box with an in 16gb ram and 1 or 2 nano sized cards.

I hope they do a nano card based on new chips as that's a winner for me

Nano is a great card, the pricing was wrong. If / when this price cut is brought to the UK, no reason to consider the 980 over the Nano imho.

Other than the lack of HDMI 2.0 which is needed for 4k/60hz on screens without DP (there is an active DP-HDMI adapter from Club3D but it's not available atm).

Daft that they left it out of even their top end cards as I'd get one otherwise.

At that price, to me, it makes the fury and fury-x look like a ripoff..

I was honestly tempted to get a fury-x, but at the launch price it couldn't compete with the 980ti, memory amounts ignored.

I know HBM is a new technology, and it's great that AMD have got it to market first, but the price was just a little too high.

Had the fury-x come in at say £475 rather than £550, I would have been very very tempted.

Anyway £350 seems like a really nice price for the nano, and if I was building a small form factor high performance PC this would definitely be my go-to card.

Fury X's are now going for £460 brand new, so the pricing has improved. Should have happened earlier though, for sure.

I think the FuryX would have sold far more units if it had 6 or 8GB of memory. Not many were willing to spend £600+ on release day for a card that already struggles with VRAM in some titles. Imagine it in 6 months to a year etc.

struggling to find comparisons of overclocked 290s vs Nano

would I be right in thinking not a huge lot in it ?

290 I have atm I'm running at 1140/1440 or something

cheers

Seems to be around 8-10% faster mostly. As in, not worth it for anyone apart from those wanting really small factor PC's.

great thanks for reply

not worth the upgrade then :) or should that be :(

takes a good few gens to bother to upgrade anything PC related these days - haha

The jump is bigger then 8-10% between an OC 290 and OC Nano. Had two Nano samples, my worst held 1065 Mhz in most titles no issue, so was similar speeds to a Fury X at stock speeds while my current sample ran 1085 Mhz in games no issue on air and now under water manages 1110 Mhz fine in games and for benchmarks can hit 1135 Mhz no issue.

Only thing on the Nano is to maintain those OC, you need to notch up the fan very slightly

If you have some titles in mind, if I have them I can get some benchmarks for you. Its paired with a 4690k

The adapter IS available. As for the Nano, at £350 it's a bargain! However £350 is what they SHOULD have released it as originally! Brilliant GPU and probably prefer it to my 980Ti. Purely for the fact you can create some truly amazing PC's, HTPC or Nano PC's with it. I think I actually prefer my Nano build to my 980Ti build! So much power for such a small machine!

It's tempting me even though I'd probably prefer a 980TI. Different cards for different builds but this is just too tempting.

If you're watercooling, Nano is an absolute no-brainer now @ £350. The single-slot blocks look fantastic too.

How many of these do you think they have sold it's a very niche product. I don't think lowering the price will help much as just only appeals to people who want and itx style card and will pay it as it's the only one of its type.

R9 Nano is a full blown FuryX.
It has no niche market. Is faster that 980Ti and much cheaper.

Increase power limit and you've got a beast of a card. Value for money is very much there, even if you've got a massive case.
