Hi guys my last OCUK PC has served me well for the last 7.5 years (with a couple of modestly priced upgrades along the way - not bad considering initial build was only ~£550) but it has come time to consider replacing it.

I don't need a monitor or peripherals etc. but do need Windows. Main use is gaming, watching stuff etc. but the machine is permanently hooked up to my big TV (hence the HTPC style case) for couch based usage so max resolution is never going to go beyond 1080P.

I have more money to spend this time round - (which may be overkill for 1080P only?) this is my first go at a basket - any adjustments I should make?

Many thanks!

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £978.06
(includes shipping: £13.20)

I would avoid the exhaust port style of graphics card, and instead go for one with more conventional fans. I had to return the similarly designed ASUS Turbo OC due to the horrendous noise it made.

Also, while Skylake 6600 is certainly nice (I run one myself) it sounds like it is surplus to your requirements and I suspect you could either save some money or free up more to spend on other components by dropping down your CPU spec a notch or two.

As it's going to be attached to the main room TV how important is silence to you? Factor that into the choice of PSU, cooler, case and GPU in my experience.

Thanks all, yes noise is a factor for me. Not so much for gaming but fans spinning up during a movie or whatever is a distraction.

My V2 basket is below. I've made your suggested adjustments, put in the XFX card, bumped up the W's on the PSU to go with the GPU. Still swithering on the CPU...

I'd swap the PSU for something with a zerofan mode like the EVGA Supernova G2

Also, 750w is not required. Better to get a good quality 550w unit (such as the one you suggested before) than an average 750w. If you want modular then go for either EVGA or Superflower

Any of the below will be fine

I've got the GD07 stuffed with an overclocked 4770K and a AMD 290. Temps got rather hot on the GPU so I had to cut a hole in the top of the case and install two 140mm fans exhausting upwards. I think in total I have 3 fans intaking and 4 exhausting now and temps are decent. CPU is cooled by a Pallas and it stays nice and cool.

Many thanks all for the PSU recommendations. The 750 requirement was on some XFX official page somewhere - are these "requirements" exaggerated?

I'd be very much happier with a nicer PSU though if I can definitely get away with it.
