So i'm off to Vegas in a couple of hrs.

Not into gambling, so not going there for that..

Other than Mt Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, Boulder City and the West rim of the Grand Canyon, can anyone recommend ?

What rides, shows or local scenery can anyone highly recommend ?

I'm going with the missus. (and NO kids for the first time in many yrs !!!!)

Could take a drive to Little A'Le'Inn and then on to the entrance of Area 51. Obviously not a lot there to see but some of the scenery on the way is amazing. Takes about 3 or 4 hours if I remember correctly.

Pick up a show at one of the hotels ?

David Copperfield
Elton John
Penn & Teller
Cirque du Soleil
Blue Man Group
Jersey Boys

Think a few of the hotels have some sort of roller coaster in it. The Stratosphere has 3/4 rides on top of it. I think you can even jump off the Stratosphere tower itself.

Go spot the "Janet" flights leaving Mcarren, they take the Area 51 staff to work :D

Yea, I recommend you don't go to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. It isn't the West Rim of the Grand Canyon really, it's a tourist trap based in a side canyon off the main Grand Canyon. By the time you've paid the fees and faffed about it's similar money to go to the proper Grand Canyon National Park.

Gun range off tropicana Ave. Roller Coaster at New York New York. Do not miss the rides on top of the Stratosphere hotel, especially the Big Shot. Obviously hit up some shows, do Cirque De Solei if it's on for sure. The Mirage has a brilliant little zoo and aquatic Park.. Have an evening meal in the Venetian it's absolutely awesome as the lighting changes over time and feels just like your outside having dinner in Italy. Gondolas are expensive but it's still pretty cool. Free drinks as long as your gambling so fill your boots, just go on the cheap slots and fill up on shorts before going out.

There's so much to do, best place on earth, been there 5 times.

Can't remember his name, but there is a magician/mind reader at Ballys that is worth a look. It isn't the price of some of the bigger names, but still a good show. I think he is French.

If you are into shopping go for a walk up to the fashion show mall, or get a bus across to the outlets.

Also it is worth going over to Downtown Las Vegas, which you could fit in as part of a trip to the outlet mall as the bus goes through it.

An overnight stay on the edge of the GC rim is a full on , de rigeur, requirement. Seeing the sun set and then getting up early morning and seeing the sun come up over the edge of it all is quite a life changing sperience.

Was for us anyways..

We're going end of Feb for 4 days, got a few things planned but certainly looking forward to a show or 2 and the burgers!!

Staying in the Wynn if anyone has any special recommendations

I've already been to the South Rim, so probably won't bother making the 4hr trip to the west rim. I think i may try and take a trip into Death Valley. Not actually been there before... Not sure what there is there other than a long road with desolate scenery.

It's been 5 years since we last there but the evening buffet at the Wynn was memorable. Everything you could ever possibly want and as much of it as you could ever possibly need. $25 a head iirc. Those Alaskan King Crab Legs... ooh yeah. And as much Champagne as you needed (we tipped the wine server and he kept us very well refreshed. So much so we had real trouble walking out of there)
Good memories. We didn't have far to walk / stumble as we were staying next door at the Encore.

If you want to see a how, Frank Marino's Divas is excellent. Funniest show I've seen in ages, I was actually crying with laughter at one point.

Drai's nightclub is pretty insane
Chandelier Bar is pretty special for a cocktail.
The bar at the top of the MGM Grand is excellent (has an outside balcony 20 stories high, over looking all of Vegas)
I really enjoyed Michael Jackson show
9 Steakhouse was delicious

There is literally a million things to do in Vegas :D
