Very Very strange facebook ad

OK so, there has been a few times I have been spooked by facebook sponsored ads but this one right now is certainly off the scale.

I was just talking with my mother on a short car journey about a spesific subject not really a common subject but I wont say what it is here.

Please note that I have never typed anything relating to this subject into a search or typed it in a facebook msg.

I get home start looking at facebook and low and behold a sponsored post exactly what we were discussing. Now bearing in mind I have NEVER serched this or seen a sponsored post like this before, there would be no reason why I should ever have a sponsored advert like this I am pretty freaked out...

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

they do pick up on your searches AFAIK, and the current app does make use of the microphone when you're using the app but I don't believe they're always recording you and/or targeting adds based on sound they've picked up via the mic

Drug abuse is a pretty broad and population encompassing subject. I think it's just coincidence.

You aren't the first person to think that their phone is listening to them and targeting adverts at you, apparently its in the T&C's when you download the app that it can do so.

Hmmm, was sceptical when I saw the thread but I did a Google search and noticed that you are not alone with this op.

Just turn off data when you are not using your phone.
