The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Cloak/AB trick does not work on DSTs. You don't get enough speed boost to instantly warp, it has to be a mwd.
Went through this with Corp mates the other day, trying to decide what to use on my bustard. Since I'd really like the mjd too! Ended up with just carrying fittings for all, can't sensibly fit all 3 without all the power grid mods.

My BR has warp rigs, zooooom :D

Not tried pyfa I'm a while, what does the crest integration offer? Always been an eft user.

Hmm worked fine with the Mastodon just before I stopped playing - managed to avoid people a couple of times when warping off to POS from a WH in the home system. (Think my hauling alts have mobility implants if that makes any difference).

EDIT: Hmm I also had my links alt running with them as well - again not sure if that made a difference or not - but pretty significant bonus to mobility - had forgotten that.

Even with links it wouldn't be enough unless you perhaps overheated the AB and had a decent cloak. Not exactly realistic circumstances for standard hauling :p

Nah definitely prototype cloak - definitely worked :S or there wouldn't have been the Mastodon I left in the POS when I stopped playing. (I'd have probably have overheated in that situation).

EDIT: In EFT that gets it upto 839m/s versus 928m/s for MWD for the fit + character skills and implants + links on the AB and not on the MWD.

Did a T3D roam with Command Destroyers + Dictor last night. Man that was fun :D
Command Destroyers are awesome fun, definitely need to grab a few more of them :)

ok, so instead of activating my 2 accounts I've started a new trial account.

Done the career missions, although they were kind of pointless. Lots of skills I already had, a couple of new ships, the only bonus was the 2 million ISK.

I received an email about a Sisters of Eve Project Discovery but can't find too much info after the info here http://www.eveonline.com/discovery/. Anyone know any more?

Also, think even though I am on a trial account, look at getting into a low sec corp or something a little more fun than the usual hi sec missions and industry I've mainly done until now. It's just finding somewhere that will accept you.

I wasn't aware the project discovery stuff was live yet, I've had a play around on Sisi and it's really difficult to get right - although a better tutorial could help with that.

Missions are always going to be a bore, career or not. You're probably best placed looking at faction warfare, pretty newbie friendly. You'll need to properly chat to corps, likely on TS/Mumble, before being allowed in though as people will first assume you are a newly created spy character :p

Was looking at that kind of setup in EFT earlier - the new logi frigs combined with T3Ds command destroyers and the odd ewar frig or dragoon look incredibly potent to the point they could probably brawl a T3 cruiser fleet in the right hands :S

Right then, I've worked up to Level 4 missions but I suspect the Myrm really isn't going to cut it.

I guess the Domi is the way to go, possibly sentry drone fit with railguns for anything which gets close? I see that supply and demand means the Domi is somewhat more expensive than a Megathron these days which is bonkers, considering the build costs are somewhat lower.

I've not trained sentry drones yet, it's on my list. Current skill set is here.

Domi is as slow as hell though, always hated flying it but yeah, damage specific sentries are the way to go with rails and I sure I used to use some drone modules as well. Think I had a dual rep setup as well and it would run without cap issues.

Can't remember the exact setup purely because it's been so long but it will have no issues with most lvl 4's.

Mym will be ok on some, not others from memory. Dominix will definitely be the logical step up. Rails+Sentries will be fine, but you've got the flexibility to take a good range of drones from lights to heavies.

Domi has higher build costs than a Megathron these days based on what http://eve-industry.org/calc/ - not sure whether this is just market fluctuation or whether you're thinking back to the old ship tiers back when the Domi was considered tier1 and cheapest, Mega tier2 and Hyperion tier3.

Tiericide got rid of the arbitrary divisions between ships and switched it for defined roles between them.

Forgot how slow it was to make ISK running lvl 1 missions :(

I was kind of spoilt - when I started the game one of my friends in PL gave me a few million ISK to "buy skillbooks" and until I'd exhausted it it made the game a lot less painful for the first few weeks - but then made a lot of the lower level content seem a waste of time for the rewards in comparison :S

Regarding level 4 missions - I kind of like PST ships, though that does mean something like ishtar, gila, rattlesnake, drake, etc. for that as it makes it harder to lose one by accident if you have to go afk suddenly, etc.

I love my Rattlesnake. Being Gallente, I have relatively poor missile skills, but it still walks through missions with just sentries, a set of Hobgoblins and a Gecko.

Yeh low level missions are poor isk... :(
Incursions and WHs are the best reliable ways of making isk unless you know how to play the market imo. Ran a few Data sites over maybe 1-2 hours and have ~750m isk of loot to show from it. Bigger risks than high sec mind!

On unrelated news. A video of the Force Auxiliaries appears to have leaked...

Odd looking things. Look like they should be stations. Going to assume they do some serious transformations when going into Triage.

my one big upset about FAs is i wont get to experience a triage archon. They look strange and awesome but I was really looking forward to that moment in my eve career.

That apostle is screaming for a sarum skin.

I seem to remember ships not being so stupid when approaching a target and moving around structures etc, instead of the just constantly bumping them like a bee trying to get out of a window... :(

Yeah I don't get the need to change current carriers so dramatically - its one of the reasons I quit playing - they could sit them in the middle without moving too far from where they are now not so specialised as FA or a full on fighter carrier but with the ability to go usefully in either direction if you wanted. By moving some of the RR bonus stuff to the triage bonus and keeping the range of RR modules reduced out of triage, etc. they could fairly effectively neuter the ability to scale spider carrier blobs to silly levels without having to take the scalpel to current carriers.

I'd be kind of screwed coming back to the game with the changes they are proposing :S as I've 1 character logged off in an archon and 2 in thanatos in either deep WH or null in full logi/triage type fits - wonder how they'd handle that.

As long as I've played the game (~2009) or seen it played (~2006) ships have always acted stupid around structures getting stuck or constantly bumping them - but the interactions with other ships seemed to be a bit better when I started than when I quit.

I used to love my rattlesnakes but never felt right after they made the changes.

A large part of these Capital changes are to counter the n+1 tactic. It might not be the best thing in the world, it might be annoying at a smaller scale but it fixes some problems that CCP have decided they don't want ingame. I think any solution they could have proposed would have had issues somewhere along the line.

From memory they are planning on moving the RR Bonus stuff to triage like you suggest Rroff, I don't think there is any intention to stop fighter carriers from using them. Just cutting the effectiveness, despite that we're still yet to see for sure how much they'll change, it might end up not being as drastic as they first suggested.

Re: Triage carriers. Sounds like they're likely to just convert triage fit carriers into Force Auxiliaries. Although nothing confirmed on that yet. It's going to be a drastic change no matter what they do tbh. On a tangent to your logged off ships - messaged you on Steam...
