For some reason my Google-fu is failing epicly and I can't find a cordless landline phone that has speaker phone and mute. I'd have thought every phone has those two basic features but apparently not!

Why a landline phone you ask? Business.

This one for example - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LM1SKQW - one manual I've seen seems to suggest it has a mute button but the icon it refers to doesn't exist on the phone . Could it be the bottom left one?!

If you are going to be on the phone a lot, I would suggest a hands free headset. I've used a Plantronics C60 going on for 10 years now and it saves me no end of hassle. I'm often having to talk and type at the same time and its got a mute button for those times when you are in the middle of a call and need to move around, make a cuppa etc.

It just daisy-chains in between the phone base unit and handset.

We have the new BT phone that blocks nuisance number ect, its great! And has the features you want.

^This. I was at the point of removing my landline due to nuisance calls. Now we have no more calls, and the landline is actually useful again.

Yes.

this mine http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-K...453992948&sr=1-1&keywords=Panasonic+KX-PRW120

You can Block upto 100 numbers in the call barred list and connect to your mobile so the calls will come to that.
