Hmmm dark zone is interesting, seems like it's a free for all pvp section of the game. Not interested in that, thought there would be some missions to do in the dark zone but haven't seen any.

Jury is definitely out for me on this game, not 100% sure if I'll keep my pre-order as I've played a few hrs of it and it seems ok-ish. Not that blown away by it as I was hoping I would be.

Still I'll play till the beta finishes then make up my mind about whether I should keep the order or not.
 
The engine and core gameplay is already good enough. The kicker for me is going to be how much content is in there. The beta is only a single mission and DZ with a couple of spawn areas...

I think the Dark Zone is best with a full team. You can cover each other and go hunting the high level AI enemies that are in there. I don't think there are actual missions, but if you want the best gear (certainly in the Beta) then you'll want to go in there.

A friend has been playing on the Xbone and said he cancelled his pre-order due to the fact that the dark zone is effectively needed to get the better gear and that it basically turned into a camp zone for people to mug you when trying to extract due to it being a known position.

I shall hope that isn't the case come release.

Dark zone is about mob farming

If this term means nothing to you its probably not going to be the game for you. Its more RPG than it is a shooter.

It's like destiny. The best loot will only come from the Dark zone, but as well as picking it up off the floor you can earn dark zone credits which you can use to buy weapons from Dark Zone vendors.
 
You can ignore the DZ thought can't you? It's only there to get better gear quickly. With a load of missions and whatever the dlc adds in the future playing with friends will be fun. As you say it's like destiny in that respect but better.

Hopefully theres items to pick up if you explore the map and not just walk the streets. I climbed up over buildings but didn't find anything. There should be stuff to pick up for explorers in the full game.

Ahh fair enough. Just spent some time in the dz and it does seem pretty fun with randoms running around lol.

Also I've noticed that in the dz I get a lot of frame rate drops ie when I'm running, every so often the screen will judder a bit. Not sure if it's my xb1 or something else.
 
I think the DZ will calm down when people realise there's actually nothing to be gained from going rogue constantly. All you have to gain is loot drops.

It is FAR FAR more beneficial for you to stay non-rogue and hunt and kill rogue agents, you get loads of XP and cash.
