Dell U2515H - whites are too bright

I've recently acquired a U2515H. It's a great monitor, but one thing is ruining it for me: the whites are so bright that reading text on a white background is really uncomfortable. It makes it difficult to use the screen for long periods, because even after an hour my eyes are starting to hurt.

I've been fiddling with the brightness and contrast since I got it, but nothing seems to help. The only way to get the white output under control is to reduce the contrast below 25/100, but then the picture looks really washed out, as you would expect. I can't find a combination of settings which give a reasonable picture, whilst avoiding eye strain.

Has anyone else had a similar issue with the U2515H or U2715H? This is my first IPS monitor, and I'm thinking of just selling it and going back to TN monitors (which never gave me this difficulty). But before I do that - can anyone suggest something which might help with this issue?

Have absolutely no issues like this on mine. I use it at 25/100 brightness also with all other settings left at factory defaults and everything looks absolutely fine to my eyes. You should lower the brightness, not the contrast.

Could also be some graphics control panel setting. Should reset everything to default settings there.

You ever sort this OP? I find a similar issue with my U2715H. I struggle to read text on it as it's causing me eye strain.

Thanks all.

Uaon: I already had the driver and default ICC profile installed, but have just switched to the custom ICC profile available from TFTCentral. I can definitely notice a difference, so we'll see how it goes.

titaniumx3: I've restored all settings to default in the Radeon control panel (graphics card is an HD 7850). I didn't notice any difference, so perhaps the settings were already at default.

I'm also experimenting with various settings on the monitor itself. Currently I'm at 25 brightness and 35 contrast, which is as far as I can go before reading on a white background becomes uncomfortable almost immediately. But with these settings, things which aren't on a white background (ie: the forums) are too dim!

Bone9: no idea how you handle it at the stock settings - straight out of the box, mine was like looking at the sun :D

TaKeN: no, still experimenting and not really sorted. Beginning to think that the monitor may just not be for me. At work I use a rubbish 22" TN panel and have no issues at all, even after a full day of text-based work.

Can I have a link to the TFT ICC Profile please Mattus?

I find my panel too bright compared to my old TN panel, it must be the LEDs in the IPS?
