I was about to ask whats your budget, then I caught it, Yep DT770 for that budget.

Shure SRH1540 if money was no object, just bought a set of these and wow.

If you can stretch just a little though, Sony MDR-1RA's are very good but around £20 over your budget, or even some V-Modas, they are bass heavy, but a very nice day to day headphone

I've seen the Beats Solo 2 for only £99 on the rainforest, I'm tempted to grab a pair myself- No I'm not joking.

I couldn't get away with wearing those beats ....lol :p

Think the DT 770 look really comfy and I can block people eating apples ...what's the leakage like ?

The DT770's leak a bit in my experience, but not a huge amount, someone sitting typing at a keyboard near you likely wouldn't hear it, unless you had it at insane levels

Better is always subjective, I certainly always find the sony's very comfortable, and the reproduction is very good, some people say they lack in the bass department, but I dont agree , I find them nice and punchy, just not overwhelmingly so.

If I was choosing between the 2 I would get the Sony's

I use DT770's currently at work (250Ohm), a great headphone for ~£100 IMO.

In terms of leakage they've been excellent and certainly leak a lot less than other peoples closed headphones in the office. Like all headphones, if you crank them right up they will leak a little, that is inevitable.

I do amplify mine (fiio e09k) and they are very refined, reasonable soundstage and are quite enjoyable.

I went auditioning headphones over the weeks (everything up to £250 for closed back) that I could get my hands on, the 3 headphones that stand out for me are:

~£100 I'd definitely still rate the DT770's for their ultimate refinement and ability, and there is something really enjoyable about listening to them for long periods of time.

~£140, the Sony MDR-100AAP were very enjoyable, more dynamic, better imaging, but there was a slight unrefined aspect to the mids/highs that shows when comparing to the DT770's. I couldn't find anywhere with the MDR-1A mentioned above, and I've heard mixed reports on if the MDR-100AAP's are better or worse, it seems split.

~£190 Sennheiser Momentum 2 over ears - These had the same dynamic sound as the Sony's, nice soundstage, good bass but also had the beyer refinement thrown in, I was quite impressed.

The rain forest has the Sens down from £270 to £186 at the moment, so I just ordered a pair (will be here tomorrow), the first thing will be to compare to the DT770's directly.

I thought the K550 had too much distortion to enjoy. I don't think they can make closed headphones to save their lives. I think the 770 beats the K550 in every area but preference may come into play. The 770 really need a good resolving dac otherwise they can sound a bit mushy. They are easy to drive but the way your other gear resolves will be a factor in how it sounds. The iPhone's dac isn't resolving enough for the 770 IMO, but the Apple sound is pleasing.

Maybe the Sennheiser Urbanite? It's a bit dark, but has nice bass and a pleasing mid range, it would also be affected by the resolving capabilities of the iPhone so you may have to look into something like the MSR7 which is super resolving and detailed with a brighter sound which may balance things out a little.

I'm using an oppo HA2 with my iPhone

You might find the new version with improved drivers may change your mind. I know it is all subjective but they are very highly rated on What HiFi winning their best buy of 2015 under £150.00.

I have not noticed any distortion with mine, in fact I ramp them up really high and get none.

I've not heard any revised versions so you may be right.

@easyrider unless you are using a separate cable to bypass the dac and amp to use the Oppo as a dac, chances are you are double amping.

I'm using the oppo as an amp and DAC using a lightening cable..

The sound on the k550 i found was highly dependant on getting the pads to seal properly around your head, so you might of had an issue with that ryan.

I didn't have issues with seal just the distortion through the bass to the low mids and lack of treble resolution. The K812 has similar problems which is shocking considering it cost about £900.
