***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

Looks awesome, I really hope they release another one for the new movie!

Only thing I'm not a fan of is the engine with the grates, but I saw this mod and it looked much better IMO

What did you use instead of the grates ?? Looks pretty good that. :)

Not really a slow rate - if they retire a set (mainly star wars) it can double in price within a few months.

99% of sets don't though. There's just been a few recently which have grabbed headlines, but for the most part people just end up with a loft full of mint in box sets that are worth less than they paid for them.

Yep. There's a few that are already discontinued that have now increased in price, but I would doubt many, of any at all, of the recent or current UCS sets go the same way, as like physichull says, they are selling so many more of them.

I recently bought a discontinued Pod Racer set, brand new in box, for £30 less than RRP (£79.99 back in 2011).

I'm not convinced that the Ewok village will be a sought after set. I reckon the Sandcrawler is more likely to be desirable when its retired.

Possibly but it's also £50 more, and smyths didn't have one at the time - although my local toys r us have a few.

Might try and get one of them too :D

Some people think new Lego sets where they just manufacture new blocks to suit isn't real Lego. Some people say the 70/80s stuff where you built and designed from the available bricks and your imagination is real Lego.

So I won't dismiss this new stuff either. It's all kids stuff, it's not hard to build if you can follow simple instruction on a page.

The stance that they just create new pieces as one offs for sets is a myth anyway. New peieces are really rare as they are expensive to make.

The only unique/one off pieces in the Buildable Figures are the heads.

I was of the same opinion on the buildable figures - they aren't Lego.

Then someone bought me Vader for Xmas. Although I still don't think the end result is very "Legoish", the build itself felt like I was constructing a traditional set, which I suppose is the point.

My opinion of them changed after actually owning one. Was hard to resist getting Grievous yesterday from Sainsbury's, but I'm not that keen on him as a character anyway.
