Hi guys what is currently the best graphics card to get for £250

i would say a R9 390 8Go Sapphire nitro(my favorit) and XFX cheaper option
i see the 390 more futur proof than 970, but if you upgrade your card often that shouldn't bother you.
btw looking at the case that's a big tower, (W x H x D) 222 x 540 X 623 mm

As above, 970/390. 970 is a good deal if you fancy the new tomb raider. both are close on performance. Nvidia offers slightly better software imo.

970 will overclock like a beast too with minimal impact on temps from experience, probably making up any loss of performance against the 390.

I would get one with a better cooler than the above though, not a fan of those short 970's using non blower coolers.

I have a sapphire r9 390,was lucky and got it for £205 on Black Friday :) it's a big card,but I love it..it batters anything I've thrown at it..great card

390 you don't have to deal with gimped memory - 970 oc so does the 390.....tends to be a wash on who's fastest at 1080p but once you go higher rez 390 pulls ahead without issues.

390 is the better buy

If gaming at 1080 the ram 'issue' doesn't cause any noticeable problems as far as I could tell, and a 970 will clock percentage wise far further than the 390 will (it's already closer to it's limit).

I don't have any problem with AMD and their Fury cards they're performing decently if I'm not mistaken, but I just couldn't put one of the 390/X's in my machine when they're so power hungry and pumping all that heat inside my case (do not confuse this with keeping the GPU itself cool, as I know they're fairly cool with the huge heatsink). The 8GB ram is pointless unless cross firing and we all know how well cross fire works most of the time.

My last few cards have all been AMD (6870, 7950, and 290), but the current two I have in my two PC's are a 970 and 980 which run cooler and they feel smoother in my games too.
