My Clio has died at 259,300 miles

Sell it to Renault, surely even they would be impressed one of their cars could muster that kind of mileage!

haha. I was impressed to see this out of a clio.

I wish more people would see their cars out to this sort of mileage. I like the idea of taking care of your car and making use of it. The best example is when you see some one that bought a car for their retirement and it has dealer stamps going back 20 years

This is the question. I like the look of the new clios but they tend to be slower than the dci100. The economy figures often claim to be bette though.

I've got just short of a 60 mile round trip to work. Its probably half a mile to the motorway from home, 27 miles on the M62 (usually limited) then about 2 miles at the far end. In the old Clio I was getting 75-80mpg, the new one gets 65 to 70mpg'ish. Not a lot I know but did raise an eyebrow. Still a decent figure.

I've not taken it on a massive run yet, but the old one managed 92mpg on a 70 mile trip to my mums one Sunday morning, averaging 54mph. Will have to give the new one a try some time.

New Clio is nice inside, Sat Nav is ok, air con works fine too!

My 1.2 2002 plate Clio did 140,000 till the steering column failed. Mechanic got it working temporarily and then traded it in. Column was £600 from a scrappy and then cost to fit, in 2010 it was not worth it.

Wasn't a bad little car still wouldn't buy another French car again.

Then the next question is...what's are you getting to replace it?

Dunno. Missus wants me to sell my Z4 and buy one car to replace. I'm swinging back and forth between £4k for a car similar to what this was when I bought it and then £10k+ on something newer with more spec.

Cars I've thought of:10/11 plate Clio dCi, 09 plate Polo Bluemotion. BMW 320d Coupe, Audi A5 TDi. Really don't know which way to go.

Yeah, ran out of space for service details ages ago so must have exceeded their expectations :)

Cheers. Think I'll sort out a test drive tomorrow.

I'm at 240k Ben. Let's see if I can catch and pass you.

Good innings!

The Insight? It's going well.

What colour is it?

Need a few bits for my DCi if your willing to break it.

Sure. Metallic Blue. You can have it for £125. After advice from here I was going to eBay it. Has about £40 of diesel in it too.

Theres a plus point... Its 238,855 miles to the moon

Your little car got there and did d a few laps :)

That was my goal after I had my 200k party...LOL

Reminds me of a car I went to see a while ago, it was a 406 HDi and it just said high mileage in the advert and the dealer wouldn't tell me how many over the phone. It was only around the corner so went for a look - 420,000 IIRC

It had the largest stack of paper I've seen included with a car, receipts for 3 clutches and they had bought 2 extra service books to keep stamping. The third book had a load of blank pages stapled to the back for more stamps :D

Was only about 800 quid and short of a few blown bulbs on the dash and doors which needed greasing, I couldn't really fault it!

An extremely good effort there!!!!

I'm all at sixes and sevens here. Don't know what to do. One minute I'm looking at Scirroccos for £15k, the next minute 57 plate Megane dCis for £2k.

The missus laughs when I show her cars like the latter but she thinks we have a money tree in garden that pays for everything with no effort.

Been ages since I looked! Could be now ha.

But when I seen it, it was on ITBS running something like 230bhp....
