Oh my word, I cannot wait. Finally someone is making a WW2 FPS shooter with no gimmicks, just the original CoD or Medal of Honour updated for consoles and PC specs of the modern era.

Its currently on kickstarter if you are interested, though I'd post this as a few of us were discussing WW2 shooters the other day in another thread

Saw this the other day when the funds were up to £38k. Looks like they got over the £100k they were after. I loved playing games like DoD way back when. Not sure if my bolt action reflexes will be up to much nowadays mind you. Looks like it could be good. Definitely will be keeping an eye on this.

Ah ok that makes more sense :)

The kick starter was a publicity stunt more than anything.

The 100k they wanted from kick starter was only 2.5% of their total budget

I know this is really early in development but the animations look very poor, what the hell is up with the way the rifles are held during the running animation? It looks awful as does the bolting of the rifles. Short clips of gameplay but what is shown looks very arcadey, there's virtually no recoil at all on the Thompson for example.

Nice idea though, hopefully they don't make a complete balls up of it.

I think you summed it up in the first few words 'early in development' and the animations are an easy fix in comparison to the othestuff. Not sure what your mean by arcade, it's not meant to be a sim, they are aiming to bring back the feeling of COD II, MOH etc with a modern feel and look.

Very interesting concept. Raw skill and gamesense required, none of this killstreak crap you get in modern FPS.

Brings back memories of Multiplay MOH:AA.

Isn't the 2.5% just the fee's they have to pay kickstarter for letting them use kickstarter? Or are they actually spending a £4 million budget on this game?

actually I think you're right I've misunderstood, the 2.5% is just the fees they have to pay. it isn't their total budget, but its not 2.5%, this sounds more like about 50%

Kickstarter is just the first step of our plan. We are fully committed to making Battalion 1944 the game that shooter fans deserve. We need the initial support to know if this is the game that players, like you reading this Kickstarter, want to play. If the initial funding goal is met, we'll be investing our own £100,000. Meaning the minimum budget of the game will be £200,000, double what we're asking for. We hope this gives confidence to backers that we're here to work together with you to make the game we all want to play.

Well hopefully it's because the game is still in the early stages but even Call of Duty/Call of Duty 2 had recoil on the weapons, it doesn't need to be a sim type game to have that.

Just seen some exclusive gameplay. If Activision is taking COD back to World War 2 then this will get crushed.

After 10 seconds of recent gameplay I was thinking wait Call of Duty isn't out yet:eek:
