Which card is best

HI All,

I have just finished building my pc which will be used for general home computing and games. I'm unsure which graphics card is better for the requirements that I have. Current games are Euro truck simulator, Project cars, other "normal games" which I have no problems running. I want to play Fallout 4 and Witches, what cards are people using to play these and do you have any issues with them.

My system is:

Motherboard: Asus x99 deluxe
Processor: I7-5820@ 3.30 also over clocked
RAM: DDR4 Corsair 4GB x 4 2133mhz
Corsair liquid cooled as well, all inside a Zalman Z11plus case.

Currently running a GTX 660 I think, can't see writing.

Radeon Nano best bang for buck high end card.

Radeon R9 390 best bang for buck lower budget card.

Looking at your system spec, 980ti and overclock its nuts off

Giving a hint on budget would be good though

I'm not sure of the budget. If the misses jumps on this then its £50. Otherwise around 200 give or take.

If you want to keep it under 200 then you are looking at a GTX960 or AMD 380,
You might be able to pick up a 2nd hand 970 or 290/390 if you get lucky

the 200£ budget puts you in between mid-end and entry high-end, so 960 or 380 around 150£, and 970 or 390 around 240£, you also have 380X a bit better than 380 around 180£
still if you can get the extra 50£, you will get significantly better card.

Any card than highend going to be a waste of the rest of the system.
Hence i would advice you to get a non reference second hand 290X. They go for around 150-170.
Otherwise 390X.

what resolution are you running?

I was in the same boat as you ( including the wife part!!)
I ended out with a gtx970 and have no complaints. Im running @1080 and can play my current games on ultra without any problems.

380X is about 10% faster than 380
390 is about 30% faster than 380
380/X come with 4Go, and 390 comes with 8Go, value for the buck 390 is the queen

Keep an eye on the clearance section. There was a gtx970 in there going for £170 but unfortunately it's now gone. I would be looking at a 390 or gtx970 if you can get one. So much more performance for not to much more money if you can get the correct deal.

Well and small update. ....

Purchased a new computer chair,a new monitor 27" and the sapphire R9 380x nitro which is overclocked. Happy with chair and graphics card. Monitor is cracked...not happy.

if you return your monitor, get a freesync one instead or a regular one, since you got the 380.

well you said you were not happy with the monitor, freesync gives much smoother gaming experience, i dont know your budget but they are fairly cheap, basicaly no extra cost over regular monitors, but a very usefull feature.
freesync get ride of latency input, stuttering, juddering, tearing, while gaming
depending on your fps, you can read more about freesync here

24" AOC freesync 144hz 1ms @ 1080p for £199
and the 27" AOC version £249

so depending on your budget and ability to return the monitor, one of these 2 would be better
