Quiet cooler for 4690k

Looking a quiet cooler for a 4690k. Run it stock speeds with the boost on . currently have a h55 which does a good job but would like something quieter as have a define r5.
Trying make as quiet as possible

About £60 Max

My personal preference would be a cooler with a 14cm fan rather than a 12cm one. In theory the larger fan should push the same amount of air at lower speeds meaning to achieve the same cooling the fan can spin at less speed and noise. Also at full speeds (extreme loads) I find larger fans have a less intrusive lower pitch noise.

At the top end of the £60 price range I would be looking at the Noctua NH-D14/15 or Dark Rock Pro 3. For about £40 you could get the Thermalright HR-02 Macho (Rev B) which I have, it's well regarded in terms of noise and performance, theoretically it is possible to run it without a fan attached as long as you have an exhaust fan pulling air through it's fins.
 
Since you're not overclocking, if your case has top vents look at the Nofan CR-95. NOT the CR-80. You can't get quieter than no fan at all! It's available for just outside your budget on your favourite auction site.
 
Like yourself I'm currently searching for a new CPU Cooler for my i5-4690k. Was looking at something around the £30 mark and the Raijintek Themis Evo is scoring highly.

Excellent cooling and thermal performance put it not far behind more expensive CPU Coolers.

One point of caution from reading the Themis Evo reviews. The RAM clearance is very tight. Might be an issue for you if you have memory with tall heat spreaders.

thanks ill have a look. just looking something quiet as the r5 is soundproof'd
 
My ASrchon SB-E X2 has proven to be an excellent cooler and very quiet, keeps my 4690K under 60c at load (idles around 24c) while overclocked to 4.7GHz at 1.3v. It's very tall at 17cm however so you'd have to check whether the Define R5 would fit it.

Ah, Hyper 212 it is! Great value cooler, though I'm not sure how much they'd charge for it!

Hmmn, that does look a good bit quieter than my non-evo Themis. But at 20 sheets, I have no complaints and sound is always cranked when the CPU is under load. :p

Just a quick update. installed evo 212 and rebuild pc and done cable management .
sitting @ 52c peak in firestrike and hottest seen gaming is 54. idles around 30 but my room is very warm today.
